NASCAR: Kyle Busch ‘has a plan’ as 9-year-old son climbs the ladder
As a gamer who has spent countless hours racing virtual NASCAR tracks, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation when it comes to the future of Brexton Busch. With his father Kyle, uncle Kurt, and grandfather Tom all being seasoned racers, it’s like he’s been born with nitro in his veins! The fact that Richard Childress signed a “contract” with him at such a tender age is just the icing on the cake.
Ever since my boy Brexton made his grand entrance into the world, folks have been asking me about his prospects in NASCAR racing. I guess they see a bit of myself in him and can’t help but wonder if he’ll follow in my footsteps.
Brexton started competing when he was just five years old, and in the past four-and-a-half years, he’s made remarkable strides in his competitions.
Additionally, it’s possible that Brexton could have benefited from the fact that Richard Childress handed him a signed $100 bill as a symbolic contract, coinciding with Kyle signing his multi-year agreement with the team towards the end of 2022.
Kyle Busch: “We’ve got a plan”
It’s clear that Brexton is a rising star. His lightning-fast pace, deeply rooted family background, and widespread backing all suggest he can go far, limited only by his own talent. This backing isn’t solely provided by his dad, either.
In his conversation with Beyond the Flag, Busch mentioned that the individual is yet to arrive, hinting at his youth. At nine years old, it’s expected that he has plenty of time left, and they have a strategy in place for his development.
Growing up, I’m proud to say that I hail from a dynasty of racers – my family has always been connected to the world of racing. Before my brother Kyle and my uncle Kurt, it was my grandpa Tom who ruled the race tracks. Just like them, he was a former NASCAR race car driver.
Kyle wants Brexton to add to that family dynasty.
We’ve got a promising career path set up for him, aiming to get him to the top tier of NASCAR as he matures. He races frequently, wins often, and enjoys it immensely, which makes us very happy to see him following his passion.
Provided Kyle’s “retirement dream” hasn’t changed, that plan may look something like this.
Kyle’s past statements reveal his ambition to clinch a Truck Series title prior to his retirement. Despite selling his Kyle Busch Motorsports team to Spire Motorsports at the end of 2023, he continues to race for them in five events annually.
Kyle might choose to step down from full-time NASCAR Cup Series racing whenever he feels prepared, instead focusing on competing full-time in the Truck Series (with the potential of winning a title). Afterward, he may share a ride with Brexton during events he’s eligible for, starting when Brexton is eligible and continuing until Kyle turns 18, at which point he becomes a full-time driver.
If everything proceeds smoothly, it’s possible that the Busch family’s dominance in NASCAR could persist for a long time, well beyond when Kyle hangs up his racing suit.
