Twenty-one-year-old Apple Martin is trying her hand at directing, taking the lead on a theater production at her college, where tuition costs $67,000 annually.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter is graduating from Vanderbilt University in May with a law, history, and society degree. She is 53 and 49 respectively.
The young actress is taking steps to follow in her mother’s footsteps by pursuing a career in acting. She’s currently gaining valuable experience by directing a play at her college in Nashville.
Apple posted photos from the event, enthusiastically praising the weekend, the people involved, the organization, and the memories made. Her college then shared the post with a caption saying their director perfectly captured the sentiment.
Last year Apple told Interview magazine how she loves theater ‘more than anything’.
She explained that she’s always loved theater and would be thrilled to participate. While she hasn’t worked on any films yet, she’s been looking for opportunities with student filmmakers. She considers herself a ‘theater kid’ at heart.
She told Vogue that she once considered law school, but went through a phase where she wanted to forge her own path, different from her parents’.
She also made it clear that she doesn’t plan to follow in her father’s footsteps as a musician – he’s the lead singer of Coldplay.
She explained that while she enjoys musical theater, she doesn’t want to be a solo singer because performing on stage alone is frightening. Her passions are dancing and acting, and ultimately, she wants to pursue a career as an actress.
Reports surfaced claiming Apple was kicked out of school for bullying, but she has since stated those claims are false.
I just had to speak up about what’s been circulating on Instagram. Honestly, I didn’t want to give it any attention, but the story going around is totally untrue and it’s really gotten out of control. I’ve never been kicked out of school, and definitely not for bullying anyone. It’s just not true.
I’m totally fine with people not liking me – it’s natural, and that’s okay! After all, the internet is for sharing all kinds of opinions.
This rumor isn’t true at all. It’s not something I would ever do, and people who know me well will tell you the same.
In 2024, Apple received criticism after a video surfaced appearing to show her disrupting another debutante’s photos at the Le Bal des Debutantes in Paris and displaying a dismissive reaction towards her date.
A source close to Gwyneth Paltrow recently told DailyMail.com that her daughter is kind and enjoys female friendships, and is definitely not someone who is unkind or catty.
‘Apple’s more playful and fun and she’s really a total girls’ girl,’ the source said.
She would never intentionally overshadow anyone, and it’s unfair to portray her as someone unkind or malicious.
She truly enjoyed her evening, and I’m sorry this is overshadowing that. It was a really positive and fun experience for her and her friends.
