Saturday Kitchen viewers are left outaged by guest's 'inappropriate' outfit: 'She changed into that to cook?'

As a long-time follower of Saturday Kitchen, I must say that this week’s episode left me rather divided. On one hand, I enjoyed the culinary demonstrations and the insightful discussions about food. However, the guest segments were a bit hit-or-miss for me.

On this past weekend’s episode of Saturday Kitchen, I, as a viewer, found myself among many others expressing my displeasure over the attire worn by guest Kate Carter-Larg during her demonstration of cooking macaroni and cheese on toast.

On the BBC show, Kate, co-owner of St Andrews’ Cheesy Toast Shack (alongside her husband Sam Larg), was a guest alongside Matt Tebbutt as the host.

However, the blouse she wore sparked raised eyebrows among certain viewers, as they considered it overly exposing for a cooking demonstration on a morning television program.

The entrepreneur chose a stylish, burgundy strapless top with a deep neckline, paired it with navy blue jeans, and completed the look with a brown belt.

Taking to X/Twitter, viewers wrote: ‘She changed into that top to cook?!’

“I can’t focus on the show because I’m worried her top might slip off. She seems to be adjusting it constantly.” The other viewer’s response could then be: “Yeah, it looks like she’s not wearing an appropriate outfit for this occasion.

‘Wardrobe issues can definitely take attention away from the show itself. Hopefully it gets sorted out quickly so everyone, including her, can feel more at ease.’

‘One guest dressed for summer’… ‘Has Kate just arrived back from a night out?’

Following a backlash from Saturday Kitchen viewers who criticized Lulu as an “overly annoying guest,” they had expressed their intention to stop watching. Now, it occurs subsequent to these viewer complaints.

Accompanied by Matt Tebbutt, Georgina Hayden, Genevieve Taylor, and Jason Atherton, the 75-year-old Scottish vocalists failed to win over the audience.

Lulu ruffled feathers by frequently referencing her age and how her grandchildren keep her hip.

Apart from voicing her disapproval of the seasoning Matt, aged 50, applied on his chicken, she unexpectedly burst into a rendition of “Music” by John Miles.

Speaking with X, who was previously known as Twitter, they posted: ‘Oh dear, Lulu is the most irritating individual to observe, hands down. #SaturdayKitchen’

In simpler terms, they expressed that Lulu was too boisterous and excessive on Saturday Kitchen, and found it odd that she frequently brought up her own age.

‘Lulu on Saturday Kitchen and being absolutely f*****g insufferable as usual’;

‘Saturday kitchen Lulu is 75 Just in case she didn’t mention it. Scotland doesn’t like her, just like Sheena Easton. Fake as feck’;

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I find myself questioning the planning process behind Saturday Kitchen. It seems a bit surprising that they’ve exhausted their list of guests so quickly that they’re bringing back Lulu this week?

On Saturday mornings lately, Lulu has been in charge of my most awkward experiences in a while. Keep in mind that she is 75 years old, and it seems to be all about the music, as indicated by ‘#SaturdayKitchen’ on social media.

‘Of all the guests in all the world … why just why? #SaturdayKitchen’.

Can you take a stab at my age? Give it a try, if you’re up for the challenge. I’m curious to see if anyone can figure out how old I am.” (#SaturdayKitchen)

Saturday Kitchen airs on BBC One live every Saturday at 10am.
