Innovative partnership brings NASCAR veteran back for second start since 2021

As a racing enthusiast with a soft spot for underdog stories, I can’t help but feel a surge of admiration for Chad Finchum. His journey in NASCAR is reminiscent of a rollercoaster ride, filled with highs and lows that would make even the most seasoned racers sweat. But what sets him apart is his unwavering spirit and determination.

Before the NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway in June, Chad Finchum hadn’t participated in a Cup Series event since October 2021, his last appearance being at Kansas Speedway with MBM Motorsports.

30-year-old racer from Knoxville, Tennessee is back with Carl Long’s team and will be driving the No. 66 car again. He’s all set to compete in his second race of the season, this time driving the No. 66 Ford at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Through a pioneering collaboration with Aires Tech, Finchum is all prepared to safeguard himself against electromagnetic field radiation (EMF), which comes from in-race communication systems, during the entire weekend at the 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Homestead, Florida oval track. By utilizing Aires Tech’s technology, Finchum will be able to protect himself from EMF emissions.

Finchum talks Aires Tech, making the ‘invisible’ visible

Finchum spoke to Beyond the Flag a little bit about the partnership before the race weekend.

Back in the early part of this year, it was revealed that Aires Tech had become a sponsor for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Impressed by how they enhance athlete performance and recovery within the UFC Performance Institute, I thought: “If they can do that for fighters, maybe they could help boost our racing team’s performance too.

Finchum is excited to be the brand ambassador for such a unique collaboration.

He mentioned, “It’s quite intriguing that you bring this up, as electromagnetic frequency is something not usually discussed since it’s invisible. However, I find it fascinating that we’re the ones bringing it to light, and I hope it encourages ordinary race enthusiasts to ponder more about minimizing electromagnetic radiation in their personal environments or devices.

There is no better place to bring the technology to the forefront than at a race track.

At a racetrack, you’ll encounter numerous devices that produce electromagnetic field radiation (EMF) like Wi-Fi networks, digital scoreboards, and team communication systems, as Finchum explained.

Although everyday devices’ EMF radiations are usually deemed safe, maintaining a clean environment is crucial. As a racing team, we aim to manage what we can and strive for improvements wherever we can.

Aires Tech optimizes the electromagnetic surroundings, much like tuning a car for top efficiency. In a competition where fractions of a second make a difference, every bit of mental clarity you can attain helps keep you alert and prepared for the grueling challenges of a race.

He discussed how he and the team plan to use the tools this weekend.

He mentioned that Aires Tech products will be utilized for all team communication during the race. Additionally, he receives their products, which means they’re on his personal phone and a portion of his home wireless devices.

Finchum talks NASCAR Cup Series return

As a gamer in the Xfinity Series, I’ve been on this track since 2017, but when it comes to the Cup Series, I’ve only had seven career starts under my belt. Interestingly enough, these starts can be traced back to 2018. Each opportunity that’s come my way, I’ve been sure to make the most of it, pushing myself forward and keeping my eyes on the prize.

This is certainly a big one.

He expressed his delight to return to an exciting leg of the Cup series’ calendar, stating, “I wish we could participate in more Cup races, but for now, our attention is mainly on the events scheduled for this coming weekend.

Despite not being a charter entrant, Finchum is assured a spot in the race as it will be his eighth career Cup Series start. This is because there are only a few non-chartered cars on the entry list, with NY Racing Team fielding the No. 44 Chevrolet for J.J. Yeley being the only other one, making a total of 38 cars competing in Sunday’s race.

Finchum also spoke about some of his goals moving forward.

He remarked that racing is a complex game, where progress is made incrementally. Top teams are always strategizing ways to enhance performance, lap by lap and race by race. While long-term objectives matter, he feels most effective as a driver when he’s fully focused on the immediate action unfolding before him.

Listen to NBC this coming Sunday, October 27, for the live telecast of the Straight Talk Wireless 400 from Homestead-Miami Speedway. Coverage starts at 2:30 p.m. ET. Start a trial with FuboTV now to ensure you catch it all!
