Jamie Oliver slams his heroes who were 'so f**king horrible' to him as he details his long and difficult journey to success

As a fervent admirer of Jamie Oliver, I must say his journey to stardom is nothing short of inspiring. The man who sold 50 million books and graced our screens with numerous TV shows, all while battling jealous rivals and ‘heroes’ trying to derail him, is truly a testament to resilience and determination.

He’s a renowned culinary expert, widely recognized television personality, and one of the most successful book authors worldwide.

Jamie Oliver, aged 49, contends that his path to success was often obstructed by envious peers and individuals he once admired as heroes.

In a deeply sad revelation, the chef confessed that some culinary experts he admired had attempted to undermine him.

In a recent chat with The Daily Telegraph, I – Jamie, known for my breakthrough at the age of 25 through my own reality series titled The Naked Chef – opened up about my past.

In the initial phase of his professional journey, spanning over the first five years, many of his idols were unnecessarily rude towards him, he explained.

‘Honestly, they were so jealous of my success, and I was only a young boy.’

He continued: ‘It was the only thing that I struggled with for those first five years, because these people I looked up to were just destroying me on a regular basis, and they couldn’t work out how it was that I was selling more books than all of them put together.’

The married father of five and multi-millionaire said he credits his success in part to ‘luck’.

Elsewhere in the chat, Jamie revealed that ‘always dreamed’ of living and working Down Under.

He mentioned that during his early work years at a restaurant after graduating from school, all his friends had moved to Australia where they were living it up, enjoying endless parties, romantic encounters, and what seemed like the best times of their lives.

‘So I genuinely never thought (I’d get there) – it’s literally like a dream.’

Oliver, a well-known figure due to his appearance on the The Naked Chef cooking program back in 1999, happens to be married to renowned fashion designer Juliette Norton.

After that point, he has managed to sell around 50 million books and graced various television programs, one of which is Jamie’s Kitchen Australia on Channel 10, which aired in 2006.

Currently Down Under, Jamie recently featured as a judge on MasterChef 2024 Australia.

In the coming month, he is scheduled to deliver a live discussion on his latest book titled “Simply Jamie,” which will take place at Sydney’s Coliseum, famously known as “Jamie Oliver – The Joy of Cooking.

On their 24th wedding anniversary in June, Jamie and his spouse Jools reaffirmed their marriage commitments during a celebration in the vibrant city of Las Vegas.

In 2000, the dedicated food enthusiast married his partner of many years, Jools (age 49), and in 2023, they reaffirmed their commitment to each other while on a family vacation in the stunning Maldives, marking their first vow renewal.

Posting on Instagram, they joyfully announced their reaffirmation by sharing a collection of spontaneous pictures from their special day commemorating their anniversary.

Besides them, Jamie and Jools have a family of five kids: Poppy (age 21), Daisy (age 20), Petal (age 14), Buddy (age 12), and River, who is seven years old.

The couple tied the knot once again in a casual ceremony, in front of a tribute to Jools’ favourite hitmaker of all time, Elvis Presley.

Jools stepped into the chapel in denim jeans, a white blouse, and cowboy boots, whereas Jamie chose a more formal look, donning a well-tailored suit.

On their special day, the pair posted numerous photos across their social networks as a way to preserve the memories.

Jools expressed: “We’ve been happily married for 24 wild years. I adore you immensely, and I’m grateful that you put up with my affection for Elvis.
