911 season 8, episode 5 brings laughter and horror for Halloween

As a die-hard 911 fan, I must say that this week’s Halloween episode was a rollercoaster of emotions! Buck’s mummy mix-up had me laughing one moment and cringing the next, while the heart-stopping moment with Hen and Karen’s family left me on the edge of my seat.

I found the latest Halloween episode of 911 to be absolutely thrilling! While it provided some hearty laughs, it also managed to instill a fair share of fear in me. The wacky storyline revolving around Buck was entertaining, but the tension and concern surrounding Hen and Karen’s family really got my emotions churning. It was an emotional rollercoaster ride for sure!

In the storyline, Buck decided to purchase what he believed was a prop for a Halloween Haunt event at the firehouse. The idea was to create an enjoyable haunted house experience for trick-or-treaters. However, on the night of the spooky festivities, the harmless prop turned out to be a genuine mummy, causing a shift from pretend horror to real terror.

Despite the mummy-related situation appearing to have resolved, Buck unexpectedly landed in a tricky predicament. Firstly, he accidentally slipped during a call and dislocated his shoulder. Secondly, he awoke one morning with a multitude of boils covering his face.

Fortunately, Buck had two crucial individuals by his side, despite the fact that they were both unproductive in helping him. His boyfriend, Tommy, and dearest friend, Eddie, exerted their best efforts to dissuade Buck from believing he was under a curse. However, an extensive research spree undertaken by Buck to learn more about the deceased person he accidentally purchased led him to suspect that he might indeed be cursed.

Was Buck actually cursed in 911 season 8, episode 5?

Regardless of Buck’s firm belief that he was under a curse, Tommy proved to be an exceptional boyfriend throughout the episode. He attended to Buck when he injured his shoulder and, since Buck had to rest with his upper body elevated for healing, Tommy opted to sleep on the couch so he could remain by his side.

Regardless of Buck’s condition, marked by boils, Tommy remained steadfast in his support. This instance underscored their bond, demonstrating that Tommy would always stand by Buck through thick and thin. It was heartening to witness a relationship where Buck didn’t shoulder all the responsibilities alone, and it was evident that Tommy genuinely cared for Buck.

Although it’s not certain if the boils are due to the curse, Tommy proposes a potential solution to Buck, should they be genuine. In search of resolution, Buck takes Tommy to the cemetery where William James McCurdy, also known as Billy Boils, is buried, so he can deliver a eulogy. During his investigation, Buck discovered that Billy was deserted by his peers, and he wishes to release his anger towards Billy and accept him into his circle of companions instead.

In a heartfelt act, it revealed that Buck’s character went beyond the ordinary. Although there may not have been a genuine curse upon him, his action of providing a dignified farewell, despite being treated as mere ornament for years instead of a soul needing a respectful burial, spoke volumes about his true nature.

Hen and Karen face every mother’s worst nightmare

Conversely, the episode underscored the significance of prioritizing family time. Hen’s work schedule had left her absent for crucial family events, like Halloween trick-or-treating. This absence gradually impacted her home life, and the added burden of working on Halloween only compounded the issue.

As a gamer, I was out with Mara and Jee-Yun for some spooky trick-or-treating fun. But things took a dark turn when a speeding car barreled into us. In a split second, I pushed Mara aside to shield her from harm. The moments that followed were a blur as the 118 worked tirelessly to keep me alive.

This poignantly executed scene was a true masterpiece, and all credit goes to Declan Pratt for an exceptional collaboration with his TV mothers, Aisha Hinds and Tracie Thoms. But let’s make a plea: may the Wilson family remain untouched by misfortune from hereon!

Honorable Mentions:

  • Eddie taking down the Halloween decorations by himself. We absolutely hate seeing Eddie without Christopher. Finding out that Christopher doesn’t want to go trick or treating just makes it even worse.
  • Buck went on a research binge to learn more about Billy Boils and the curse. However, we don’t know exactly what caused the boils on his face. Was it a curse?
  • Maddie and Chimney were unable to celebrate Halloween with Jee. As much as we adore their relationship with the Wilsons, we need more of this family dynamic as well!
  • It looks like Tommy may not be completely folded into the 118 group unit yet, but we are looking forward to how they bring him into Buck’s world more than just with Eddie!
  • Speaking of Tommy, can we have more scenes with Tommy and Eddie together because those two may just be the new Bobby and Michael!
  • Bobby and Athena telling each other to get home safe? They continue to be iconic!

Due to Halloween falling on October 31st, there won’t be a fresh episode of 911 that day. Instead, tune in for the next new episode on Thursday, November 7th at 8/7c on ABC. In the interim, feel free to catch up on this season by streaming it on Hulu.
