As a seasoned gamer and horror movie enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that M. Night Shyamalan’s latest offering, Trap, is a must-watch for any self-respecting horror fanatic. With its gripping storyline, edge-of-your-seat suspense, and top-notch performances, this film is sure to leave you on the edge of your seat, clutching your gaming controller in terror (or perhaps that’s just me).

Among the most financially successful horror films anticipated for 2024, “Trap” directed by M. Night Shyamalan and featuring Josh Hartnett is now available on Max. This movie offers heart-pounding suspense and an engrossing narrative that will keep you glued to your screen. Initially released in cinemas in August, it earned a global box office total of $82.7 million. Now, with Halloween approaching, it’s streaming premiere has arrived!

As a gamer nestled comfortably at home, brace yourself for an exhilarating ride with non-stop surprises. The movie I’m referring to is none other than Trap, masterfully crafted by M. Night Shyamalan – a filmmaker renowned for his work on movies like The Sixth Sense, After Earth, Split, Glass, Old, and Knock at the Cabin.

In the chilling horror movie, Hartnett portrays Cooper Abbott, a firefighter who conceals his horrific identity as the notorious serial killer “The Butcher.” Unaware that he’s right in the thick of a police operation, Cooper plans to take his daughter Riley to her favorite singer’s concert. As it turns out, The Butcher is also present at the event. The authorities then move in for an arrest. When Cooper discovers the truth, he must now use all his resources to avoid being apprehended.

Hartnett has a long history in the horror genre, with previous roles in movies like “Halloween H20: 20 Years Later”, “30 Days of Night”, “The Faculty” and “Wicker Park”. Newcomer Ariel Donoghue is among the cast, portraying Riley. She’s most recognized for her role as Emma on the Peacock comedy-drama series “Wolf Like Me”. In addition to Hartnett, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills, Alison Pill, Marnie McPhail, Vanessa Smythe and several others make up the star-studded cast.

Are you hesitant about watching this horror movie? Let me share some opinions from critics on Rotten Tomatoes:

What a fun ride from Shyamalan who just doesn’t miss. Possibly a career-best performance for Josh Hartnett!

Trap is a solidly entertaining cat and mouse thriller, with a strong lead who will send chills down your spine. We may be far from Shyalaman’s Sixth Sense heyday, but he’s still capable of making you shuffle in your seat.
