NASCAR team dropping a car for Homestead after Las Vegas race
As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours on virtual race tracks, I must say, the real-life NASCAR action is always a thrill. The news about the non-chartered teams at Homestead-Miami Speedway has certainly piqued my interest. The No. 84 Legacy Motor Club Toyota, driven by none other than Jimmie Johnson, put up a respectable 28th place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Two uncertified teams have signed up for this upcoming Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, as no teams from them participated in the race held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last Sunday afternoon.
Nevertheless, among all the vehicles in Las Vegas, there was one unlicensed car that stood out – the No. 84 Legacy Motor Club Toyota.
In this contest, the third entry from Legacy Motor Club was run for the eighth time this season. It shared the track with the regular No. 42 Toyota, piloted by John Hunter Nemechek, and the regular No. 43 Toyota, operated by Erik Jones.
Jimmie Johnson not competing at Homestead
7-time title holder Jimmie Johnson, part-owner of the team, piloted the No. 84 Toyota in the South Point 400 at Las Vegas and ended up in 28th position after completing the 267 laps on the 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) four-corner oval in Nevada. This performance equaled his season’s best results achieved in the Daytona 500 in February and at Dover Motor Speedway in April.
This weekend, he doesn’t have a race planned, but his next scheduled appearance will be during the season finale, which takes place two weeks after this, not on this Sunday afternoon’s 267-lap race at Homestead, Florida’s four-cornered, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) track. Instead, he will compete in the final event of the season at Phoenix Raceway.
Two regular cars, not owned by full-time teams with charters, will also participate in the upcoming race on Sunday. These teams are not like Legacy Motor Club, which owns its charters.
As a gamer, I’m pumped up to jump into the No. 44 Chevrolet for the eighth time this season, and once again, I’ll be taking the wheel. This time around, it’s the NY Racing Team who’ve got my back. On the other hand, MBM Motorsports are lining up with Chad Finchum at the helm of the No. 66 Ford for the 11th time this season. This will be his second go-around with them, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out!
