The story of Supergirl is growing with a new movie, and recently, a significant character from her history has been revealed, giving fans a deeper understanding of her family.
David Krumholtz’s Zor-El in Supergirl gets first look in new image
A new still from the upcoming movie reveals David Krumholtz as Zor-El, the father of Milly Alcock’s character, Kara Zor-El. This film marks a significant live-action return for the character within the DC Studios universe. Emily Beecham stars as Kara’s mother, Alura In-Ze, completing a key part of Kara’s family background. The movie is scheduled for release on June 26th.
Director Craig Gillespie explained why he cast Michael Krumholtz, saying he was excited because Krumholtz is a big comic book fan. Gillespie also pointed out the difficulty of the roles, as the actors had to learn completely new languages for the film. He noted there were extended scenes with several minutes of dialogue, requiring highly skilled actors, as reported by EW.
Director Craig Gillespie has revealed the film will feature several different planets – approximately nine, in fact. Each planet will have its own unique language, and the story will heavily involve characters traveling between them.
This movie is unusual in its blend of style and storytelling. It focuses on Kara and her partnership with a young alien named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who is played by Eve Ridley. They team up to stop a dangerous enemy named Krem, brought to life by Matthias Schoenaerts.
What truly drives Kara is a personal crisis. When her beloved super-dog, Krypto, is poisoned, she’s in a race against time to save him. This adds a strong sense of urgency to the story, making the action and adventure feel more meaningful and heartfelt.
