Liam Neeson says he is done with dating at 72 as he is 'past all that' 15 years after wife's death

As a devoted fan of Liam Neeson’s illustrious career and captivating personal journey, I find it both heartwarming and heartbreaking to hear about his decision to step away from romantic pursuits. His life, marked by love, loss, and resilience, has been a rollercoaster ride that has left us all in awe.

Liam Neeson has shared that he is done with dating at this point in his life.

In a conversation, the 72-year-old actor, who lost his wife Natasha Richardson in 2009, expressed about romance: “I’ve moved beyond that stage.

Neeson and Richardson married in 1994 and welcomed sons, Micheál, 29, and Daniel, 28.

He later dated public relations executive Freya St. Johnston from 2010-2012.

Prior to her demise, the Academy Award-winning actress had a distinguished list of suitors, which included Barbra Streisand, Brooke Shields, and Helen Mirren, before she eventually ended up with Richardson who was 45 at that time.

In a 2018 appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Liam reminisced about crossing paths with Mirren, who was 79 years old at the time, while filming their movie Excalibur together back in 1981.

He recollected being on the film set, standing alongside Ciarán Hinds, when Helen approached us, elegantly dressed as Morgana Le Fey. We both uttered something to the effect of surprise or amazement, and he admitted, “I was captivated. I believe Ciarán felt the same way, but I was particularly enamored!

The two stars went on to date for four years and they occasionally keep in touch.

Neeson recounted a trip to Southwest France where he attended a bullfight with Helen. He said, ‘The experience was both awe-inspiring and distressing. Witnessing incredible acts of courage left me in awe, but the resulting tragedy was heartbreaking.’

He added, ‘Then we were on the Loire Valley camping. Oh my God, it was gorgeous. Helen was a good cook, cooking on outside fire and stuff. Lovely.’

In 2018, Liam’s eldest son, Micheál, decided to adopt the surname Richardson as a tribute to his deceased mother, who was an accomplished actress.

Micheál acted alongside his father in the 2020 comedy-drama Made In Italy.

Regarding his son carrying on his legacy, the father of two shared with People, “I believe Natasha would be pleased. I surely hope so.

In 2009, Daniel was residing in New York City when the tragic skiing incident occurred that ultimately claimed Natasha’s life. However, it was their brother who accompanied Natasha during that fateful fall on the ski slopes, causing her to strike her head.

Liam was in Toronto filming.

In the midst of learning to ski as a novice, Natasha – known for her roles in The Parent Trap and Maid In Manhattan – experienced an unfortunate incident while on the slopes.

At that moment, she didn’t have a helmet on, and to begin with, she claimed to be feeling well. However, her health started to worsen about an hour later while she was in her hotel room.

The Tony Award-winning actress was transported to New York City, and she passed away there two days later, surrounded by her loved ones at the hospital.
