Furious My Kitchen Rules star Ash Pollard goes on extraordinary rant as she reveals she was FIRED by her own cleaner after she making one request
In the spirit of this relatable mother-of-two, I find myself nodding in agreement as I read through Ash’s tales of her quest for cleanliness perfection. Much like Ash, I too have been on a lifelong journey to keep my nest spotless, only to realize that the elusive ‘perfect clean’ is as rare as a unicorn sighting.
Ash Pollard, a contestant on My Kitchen Rules, has disclosed that she let go her house cleaner, an occurrence that’s happened before.
On Wednesday, a 38-year-old mom vented passionately in a lengthy post on social media for over ten minutes, expressing frustration about the difficulty of locating a cleaner who maintains the same high standards she upholds at home.
‘Is it possible to be fired by your own employee? Because I just was. My cleaner fired me as their client. Do you wanna know why? I’ll tell you,’ she began.
The cleaner mentioned that the standards I set for their services over the past two years might have been a bit too demanding for them to meet.
As a devoted admirer, I, hailing from the land Down Under, shared an intimate glimpse into my life when I filmed myself tending to my kitchen in the heart of Melbourne, weaving tales along the way. This particular journey began during the 2015 season of MKR, where I gained widespread recognition.
Ash clarified that the individual she hires to keep her Melbourne residence, which she shares with her partner and two little ones, spotless, hadn’t done a thorough job on the shower cleaning, leading to mold growth.
Currently, as we recently moved in, this house is completely new, as it hadn’t been inhabited before due to being freshly constructed.
“Only they maintained the cleaning of this location on a bi-weekly basis, while I handled the routine maintenance in between.” (This version uses more common phrases like “maintained” instead of “cleaned,” and “bi-weekly” instead of “every fortnight.”)
The shower has been developing mold in the grout lines and on the cork surface. It appears that only these individuals have been tasked with its cleaning, suggesting that their efforts may not be effective enough to prevent mold growth if it’s already present.
Before starting to clean her newly constructed house, Ash mentioned that she had hired the same cleaner who used to take care of her rental property.
“I mentioned that the shower wasn’t being cleaned thoroughly. I had to take care of it myself, but now he’s redone it and it’s clean as a whistle again.
‘I said, “Listen, it’s dirty.”‘
The cleaner apologised in a text message sent to Ash and said they would take full responsibility.
But then decided they’d simply had enough.
‘Your standards are obviously too high for our service,’ they wrote. ‘Good luck in the future.’
‘Do you know the funny thing? This is the second time this is happened to me,’ she revealed.
‘Because I just keep thinking it’s them. Maybe it’s me,’ Ash continued.
‘Nah, it’s not f**cking me. What is wrong with people these days? People have low standards or they’re not willing to put the f**cking work in.’
She mentioned that the company she works with tends to be on the pricey side, without disclosing the exact amount she spends every two weeks for their cleaning services.
‘First world problems, I know,’ Ash said.
However, she went on, expressing her irritation, ‘It seems you believe they’d stoop so low as to clean the grout with their hands?’
Instead of purchasing a grout scrubber, they planned to clean the floor lightly with a mop and leave the house afterwards.
Ash danced playfully through her kitchen, mimicking the way her cleaner mopped the floors before showing the proper method of doing so according to her expectations.
In a sleek black fitness outfit, her hair tied neatly away, a woman who calls herself the original reality TV star enthusiastically mimicked scrubbing with an invisible mop, moving it back and forth.
She exclaimed, “Mopping isn’t as simple as you think! It requires real effort – you should be drenched in sweat and feel like you’re working hard for it.
In her upcoming video, the mother of two shared that lately she has been leaning towards delegating tasks more often. Although she is skilled in cleaning, she expressed a preference for avoiding it herself.
‘Because I’d rather do other stuff. I’d rather not waste my time.’
Instead of asking her 126,000 Instagram followers, the Melbourne mom sought their advice on whether she was being excessively meticulous with her standards, following a conversation with her friend who mentioned this.
She commented, “I hold high regard for truly excellent cleaners.” However, I find it challenging to locate someone who matches my own level of cleanliness.
Ash expressed dissatisfaction as well, noting that the cleaner had neglected to dust under her pieces of furniture and failed to clean the skirting boards. Instead, they only vacuumed around them.
‘I don’t want a speck of dust anywhere!’
In her upcoming videos, Ash shared that she had purchased a duster for cleaning tasks and was surprised to find areas in her house that were not thoroughly cleaned before.
That included the base of a floor lamp, in-between the tiles of her kitchen backsplash, and the tops of her liquor bottles in the back corner of her walk-in pantry.
‘Yeah, that’s f**cking right. Add that to my CV. I’m the new cleaning lady on the block,’ she huffed. ‘I’m not going to get paid for it though, am I? NOPE.’
‘What’s a girl gotta do? What have I got to do?’
The conclusion she came to was that she’d have to write out a list of everything she wanted to be done the next time that she hired a cleaner.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must admit, a brilliant marketing move was made by a cleaning company in Melbourne when they skillfully compiled all of Ash’s videos and claimed they were ready to take on the task at hand.
Ash has two young daughters – four-year-old Clementine and three-year-old Claudette.
Apart from that, she’s made guest appearances on Dancing with the Stars back in 2015, I’m a Celebrity! Get Me Outta Here in 2017, and more recently, the second season of The Traitors in 2023. However, it’s worth noting that she hasn’t taken home the grand prize in any reality TV competition yet.
