Marvel confirms 2028 release dates as Blade is indefinitely postponed

As a lifelong Marvel fan who has seen more than my fair share of ups and downs in the MCU, I can’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu with the latest news about the delayed Blade revival. Just when we thought we were finally getting closer to seeing Mahershala Ali’s take on the iconic vampire hunter, another wrench is thrown into the works.

Marvel’s Blade revival with Mahershala Ali has been indefinitely postponed yet again.

Since its initial announcement in 2019, the path of the Marvel movie to the big screen has faced several bumps. Initially, it encountered delays due to shifts in directors and scriptwriters. Additionally, production was briefly halted last year because of the writers’ strikes in Hollywood.

The momentum appeared to restart in December 2023 as Ali hinted at the film resuming production “fairly quickly,” prior to its initial release date in November 2025. However, it has now been officially announced that the film’s production has been delayed yet again.

As reported by Variety, the release date for “Blade” originally scheduled for 2025, has been removed from Disney’s schedule. Instead, “Predator: Badlands” will take its place on November 7.

Though the official release date for “Blade” remains undetermined at this time, Marvel Studios has announced three unnamed projects to be launched on February 18th, 2028, May 5th, 2028, and November 10th, 2028.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’ve just caught wind that a fresh take on Blade is out there, with none other than Wesley Snipes returning to slice and dice as the infamous vampire slayer in an exciting collaboration with Deadpool and Wolverine!

In the early part of this year, it became clear that actor Aaron Pierre, who played a role in the movie “Foe”, is no longer involved with the upcoming film “Blade”. Originally, he had been cast for an unspecified role in 2022.

The actor affirmed that discussions took place for him to join the project, but unfortunately, those talks didn’t lead to him actually appearing because the movie encountered significant production delays.

Initially, we had discussions,” he stated back in March. “However, as the project progressed, I am no longer involved – I’m detached now.

Despite not having the specific roles of his or their characters fully confirmed, it remains that Ali will continue to play the lead role as the renowned vampire-slayer superhero. This will be alongside Delroy Lindo and Mia Goth in the production.

Even though a replacement for departed director Yann Demange hasn’t been chosen as of June 2024, Eric Pearson has been diligently working on the screenplay, refining earlier drafts penned by Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto, and Michael Green.
