Ashley Banjo recalls the surreal moment he received a surprise phonecall from Prince Harry and jokes he ‘should have poached his number’

Ashley Banjo has recalled the surreal moment he received a surprise phonecall from Prince Harry.
36-year-old Diversity member opened up to Heat World during this year’s Pride of Britain Awards, revealing that he’s had numerous encounters with celebrities and members of the royal family throughout his career, and has even received personal phone calls from some of them.
Discussing how he once spoke with Prince Harry, Ashley said: ‘I’ve met a lot of people.’
Over the course of my career, numerous individuals have reached out to me, including the likes of Prince Harry and Elton John. However, I don’t have their contact details to make a call myself.
He joked: ‘I should poach their numbers while I can.’
A California resident named Harry, along with his spouse Meghan Markle, have been making news lately due to them being forced to vacate their cottage in Windsor, which was apparently arranged by King Charles, leaving them homeless in the United Kingdom.
According to an article written by Richard Eden in The Mail last week, it was disclosed that the pair recently purchased a house in the Alentejo area of Portugal, which is close to a property owned by Prince Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.
For the 25th time, the Pride of Britain Awards took place on Monday, and it will air on ITV1 this coming Thursday. Once again, Ashley Banjo and Carol Vorderman are set to host the event.
Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks served as hosts for the red carpet, while GK Barry provided online content from her personal bar during the occasion.
Since 1999, this ceremony has been held annually to honor exceptional individuals from various backgrounds throughout the United Kingdom, as recognized and nominated by the general public.
From the numerous submissions, the judges of the Pride of Britain Awards selected their picks after narrowing down the candidates.
Prior to the event, The King and Prime Minister Keir Starmer paid respects to the country’s unrecognized champions.
The King referred to them as the “cream of the crop” among us, whereas Sir Keir stated that they personify all that is outstanding and admirable in Great Britain.
In a letter penned by King Charles, the recipient was Molly Leonard, the young achiever awarded by the King’s Trust. Upon reading this heartfelt message, Molly’s grandmother couldn’t help but feel a swell of emotion and proudly shed tears.
Apart from expressing appreciation for Molly, he also penned down these words: “On the 25th anniversary of the Pride of Britain Awards, I extend my heartfelt admiration to every winner of this year. Each one of you embodies the finest aspects of our community.
The Prime Minister told the winners: ‘Britain is proud of you’.
Over the past 25 years, the Pride of Britain Awards have honored individuals who truly represent the best aspects of British society. These remarkable people come from diverse backgrounds, yet they share a unifying trait: they are all heroes.
