NASCAR team set for Homestead return after surprise absence

As a seasoned gamer who’s been following NASCAR races since the days of Dale Earnhardt Sr., I must admit that the unpredictability of this sport never ceases to amaze me. The unexpected return of MBM Motorsports, just when we thought they were taking a break, is like finding a rare collectible in a game of chance!

MBM Motorsports initially intended for their participation in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs to feature races at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 21, a Saturday; Kansas Speedway on September 29, a Sunday; the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval on October 13, another Sunday; Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 20, again on a Sunday; and finally, Phoenix Raceway on November 10, yet another Sunday.

In contrast, they didn’t participate in the races held at Kansas and Las Vegas last Sunday, but they were racing with Josh Bilicki driving the No. 66 Ford at Bristol and the Charlotte Roval earlier.

However, they are set to make an unexpected appearance at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend.

MBM Motorsports set for surprise return

This year, Chad Finchum will be back behind the wheel of car number 66 (again), and he’ll be doing so with the support of Aires Tech as his sponsor.

This unique partnership pairs a brand that innovatively develops tech for EMF radiation protection in devices with wireless transmissions, aligning it with health and wellness. The Finchum racing team, along with their No. 66 crew, are preparing to test out the brand’s Lifetune product during their upcoming race weekend.

In 2024, Bilicki and Finchum are part of a group of six drivers who have raced for Carl Long’s team, which had taken a break from the Cup Series the year prior. Notably, Finchum returned to the Cup Series after an absence since October 2021, with his comeback race held at Nashville Superspeedway in June.

This season, MBM Motorsports has been driven by five individuals: Timmy Hill, David Starr, B.J. McLeod, Parker Retzlaff, and Bilicki. Among them, Bilicki has taken the lead with three races in car number 66, with both Timmy Hill and B.J. McLeod following closely behind with two races each.

In the latest event held at the 1.5-mile, four-cornered oval located in Homestead, Florida, Hill represented his team during their outing in February 2021.

It remains undecided if the team will participate in the season finale at Phoenix, which is scheduled for three weeks from now.
