Unlock your senses: A24 and Joya Studio to host immersive screenings of Heretic

As a horror enthusiast with over two decades of chilling cinema experiences under my belt, let me tell you that the anticipation for Heretic is palpable! Having attended countless premieres and screenings, I can confidently say that this unique multi-sensory experience at Alamo Drafthouse theaters is a game-changer. The idea of smelling a blueberry pie during a pivotal scene in the film sounds like a delightful twist to an already intriguing plot.

As a die-hard horror fan, I can’t contain my excitement for the upcoming release of “Heretic” in fall 2024. It was unveiled at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival back in September and is set to grace the screens of movie theaters nationwide on Nov. 8, 2024. Here’s a fun fact: some lucky fans might even get a sneak peek before the official release date, depending on the cinema they choose to visit! And guess what? That’s not the end of it – stay tuned for more updates about this spine-tingling horror movie!

Production company A24, responsible for both producing and distributing films, has partnered with Joya Studio, a fragrance and design firm, to offer unique multi-sensory screenings of the movie “Heretic” at select theaters in the United States. As stated in a press release, these immersive events will be shown exclusively at Alamo Drafthouse theaters nationwide for a single night on October 30. Indeed, it’s only happening on that one night.

In this distinctive movie event, you’re not only treated to visual delights, but also tantalizing scents. In the initial film trailer, there’s a scene where the villain hints at checking on a blueberry pie in the oven, though it turns out to be a ruse. Instead, he was lighting a candle with a blueberry scent to mislead his victims, making them think he was genuinely baking a pie.

Based on the announcement, these upcoming cinema screenings will create an immersive experience by filling the theater with a blueberry pie aroma at specific points in the film. Isn’t that amazing! Furthermore, keep an eye out for goodies and interactive scratch-and-sniff cards during these showings.

The film titled “Heretic” was created by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. It features Sophie Thatcher portraying Sister Barnes and Chloe East playing Sister Paxton, two young missionaries who unwittingly become pawns in a lethal game of chase after encountering an enigmatic man. The mysterious man, Mr. Reed, is played by Hugh Grant. Topher Grace and Elle Young are additional cast members.
