Shay Mitchell slips into iconic red Baywatch swimsuit as she films beach scene for upcoming reboot

Shay Mitchell was seen filming the new Baywatch movie in the Los Angeles area on Monday.

The 38-year-old actress looked great in the show’s famous red bikini, known for its low top and high-cut legs.

Just weeks after being cast, Mitchell began filming in Redondo Beach with her co-stars Stephen Amell, Thaddeus LaGrone, and Jessica Belkin.

During the photoshoot, her long, dark hair was parted in the middle and fell down her back in loose, natural waves.

She’s going to play Trina, a woman who used to be a successful lawyer but now works as a lifeguard after leaving her prestigious law firm.

Shay Mitchell became well-known for her role as Emily Fields in the TV series Pretty Little Liars, which ran from 2010 to 2017.

Other stars in the upcoming Baywatch show include Brooks Nader, Livvy Dunne, and Hassie Harrison.

Earlier this month Nader confirmed her involvement with the series in an Instagram post.

In several photos taken on a studio lot near a trailer, she was seen reading a copy of the script, which clearly displayed her name as a cast member.

Another image showed her going over highlighted lines as she traveled via private jet.

She shared a heartfelt message in her post, saying she had faith in her vision even when it didn’t seem logical. She encouraged everyone to pursue their dreams, no matter how ambitious they may be!

When the first images from the new version were released online, many fans reacted negatively, criticizing it as unoriginal and predicting it wouldn’t succeed, especially with social media personalities as the main actors.

Despite the backlash, the cast is embracing the opportunity.

Nader responded to critics in an interview with Daily Mail, explaining that times have changed. He believes people can successfully pursue multiple careers, like being both an actor and a social media influencer, and still have a significant impact.

‘And that’s the beauty of the culture that social media has created.’

The new Baywatch iteration will air for 12 episodes.

The show, which aired from 1989 to 2001, was about the daily lives of lifeguards working on the beaches of Los Angeles.

The show featured David Hasselhoff as Mitch Buchannon and helped launch Pamela Anderson’s career, as she played C.J. Parker.

Despite consistently getting poor reviews from critics, Baywatch was incredibly popular with audiences and became the most-watched television show globally during its time on air.

During its last two seasons, the show was renamed Baywatch: Hawaii, and Jason Momoa – who later became a famous movie star – was added to the cast.

Last fall, Fox Television Network President Michael Thorn told Variety that the original ‘Baywatch’ series was hugely influential, capturing the spirit of beach culture and making lifeguards famous. He announced that, together with Fremantle, they’re bringing the show back for a new generation.

Fox and Fremantle, working with Matt Nix and the original creator of Baywatch, Greg Bonann, are reimagining the iconic series for a new audience. They plan to deliver updated storylines, introduce new talent, and maintain the exciting, large-scale action that made Baywatch a worldwide hit.

The new Baywatch series will center on Hobie Buchannon (Amell), who takes on the role of a lifeguard captain, following in the footsteps of his famous father, Mitch.
