Venom: The Last Dance called ‘best Venom movie’ in first reactions
As a lifelong fan of comic book movies, I must say that “Venom: The Last Dance” has left me thoroughly entertained! Having followed Eddie Brock and Venom’s adventures since their first big-screen appearance, it was an absolute joy to witness this third installment.
In theaters this week, Venom: The Last Dance marks the conclusion of Eddie and Venom’s tale, and here are some initial thoughts on the fresh film.
In the continuation of the narrative penned by Kelly Marcel (originally conceived alongside Tom Hardy), titled Venom 3, we find ourselves picking up where Venom: Let There Be Carnage left off, with Eddie Brock and Venom evading capture.
In a predicament where they’re pursued by the realms of both their lives, offering them scant chances of evasion, an unforeseen pair find themselves compelled to make a heart-wrenching choice. This choice, if made, will seal Eddie and Venom’s final act together.
As someone who’s had a sneak peek at Venom 3, I can’t help but jump on Twitter to express my initial thoughts. Is this film a fitting end to the trilogy? That’s what everyone seems to be wondering!
According to Digital Spy’s movies editor, Ian Sandwell, “Venom: The Last Dance” is the most fun and engaging movie in the trilogy.
This journey is predominantly humorous and heartwarming as Eddie and Venom embark on a road trip, fulfilling their version of being fugitives reminiscent of Thelma & Louise. Expect sing-alongs in the car and dog rescues along the way. There’s a chance you might feel a bit emotional too.
According to Drew Taylor from TheWrap, “Venom: The Last Dance” stands out as the top Venom film. The madness has been amplified noticeably, yet so has the emotion. While it’s not flawless, it’s incredibly enjoyable.
Joseph Deckelmeier from ScreenRant describes it as an entertaining popcorn movie, reminiscent of comic book films from the early 2000s. It’s packed with humorous scenes, but does have plot inconsistencies and story flaws. Despite these issues, it’s still enjoyable.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but echo the initial responses that have hailed the climactic act of Venom 3 as absolutely bonkers, in the best possible way! This movie has also been lauded as the epitome of ‘guilty pleasure cinema’, a title it wears proudly.
Prior to its scheduled premiere this week, it’s been officially announced that the running time of Venom 3 will be approximately 109 minutes. This is about the same length as the original Venom, and a good 15 minutes longer than its sequel.
In the concluding film of this trilogy, we see the return of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and his alter ego, Venom. Additionally, Stephen Graham reprises his role as Patrick Mulligan, a character introduced in the second installment, and Peggy Lu appears once more as Mrs. Chen.
It’s worth noting that Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rhys Ifans are part of the cast for Venom 3, but they won’t be reprising their roles from the Marvel universe (unless an unexpected plot twist occurs). Additionally, new faces joining the cast include Juno Temple and Alanna Ubach.
Venom: The Last Dance is released in cinemas on October 25.
