After Sam Burgess married Lucy Graham last weekend, there’s a possibility that Phoebe Burgess may adopt her birth surname, Hooke, again.
Previously, the influencer, aged 35, had expressed her intention to maintain the last name of the former NRL star for the sake of having a common surname with their two kids, a 7-year-old daughter named Poppy and a 5-year-old son called Billy.
During an extensive chat with journalist Mia Freedman on the No Filter podcast in 2021, Phoebe was questioned about the possibility of altering her name.
She told the Mamamia founder that even though her passport and email still have the surname Hooke, she wants to have the same last name as her children.
She stated, “Every day, I drive my children to school, and there’s a large sign on my vehicle displaying our shared last name, Burgess. Since we are all called Burgesses, it feels right that I should share the same surname with them.
Phoebe viewed the choice as joining a household grouping (family) and it being her own personal decision, even though she has gone through a divorce.
She declared confidently, “I’m taking responsibility for a part of it. This is my journey, the path that led me here.
