Even Lara Croft needs time to rest and recover.
I just heard that filming on the new “Tomb Raider” show on Prime Video has been temporarily stopped. Apparently, Sophie Turner, who’s playing Lara Croft, had a small injury. They’re giving her time to get better before they continue, but they haven’t said much about what actually happened. I hope she recovers quickly so we can see the show soon!
“We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible,” the statement added.
A representative for Turner, 30, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday.

In her new Prime Video show, Turner stars as a financial employee who finds herself entangled in a complicated scheme after a robbery at her workplace.
Prime Video announced in September that Emmy-nominated actress Ella Turner will play Lara Croft. She was previously recognized for her role as Sansa Stark in “Game of Thrones” in 2019. Several other actors have portrayed Croft, including Angelina Jolie in two films in the early 2000s, Alicia Vikander in the 2016 “Tomb Raider” movie, and Hayley Atwell, who voiced the character in a Netflix animated series.
Prime Video is developing a “Tomb Raider” series with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the Emmy-winning creator and star of “Fleabag,” leading the project. She will write, produce, and co-run the show alongside Chad Hodge, who also serves as an executive producer. Jonathan Van Tulleken will direct and executive produce.
The actor playing the new Tomb Raider was previewed earlier this year by the streamer, who shared a photo of her in a dark green tank top, shorts, and round sunglasses, complete with leg holsters. The initial reveal sparked a wide range of reactions, from excitement to unfortunately, some negative and sexist comments.
Sophie Turner is known for playing strong female characters. After becoming famous as Sansa Stark on “Game of Thrones,” she went on to play Jean Grey in the “X-Men” films, starred in the movie “The Dreadful” with her “Game of Thrones” co-star Kit Harrington, and appeared in the TV series “Steal,” among other roles.
In a recent interview with The Times, she explained that she’s drawn to creating complex and multifaceted characters. She wants to portray significant personal growth and change, showing characters who are uncertain about their direction and feel stuck or undervalued. She believes it’s compelling and freeing to see women portrayed authentically, in all their vulnerability and rawness, on screen.
