Mayfair Witches season 2 premieres about two years after the first season (Release date and first-look)

As a gamer who has weathered countless delays and cancellations in the world of gaming, I must admit that I have developed a certain resilience when it comes to waiting for my favorite shows to return. So when I heard that Mayfair Witches season 2 is finally coming out in January 2025, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and skepticism.

After approximately two years, enthusiasts of the “Mayfair Witches” series can now anticipate the arrival of season 2! Take a look and discover its release date right here!

At New York Comic Con, it was revealed that the second season of “Mayfair Witches” will make its debut on January 5, 2025, airing both on AMC and AMC+. This is approximately two years after the initial premiere of season 1 on January 8, 2023. The delay in releasing the new season was due to several factors, including the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which postponed the completion of filming.

The first teaser of season 2 was also shared. It hints at the action, which includes Cortland (turned to stone by Rowan in the finale) back in human form, the tease of vampires, further dangers, and Rowan declaring no one is ready for what she has in store. Check it out below!

What is Mayfair Witches season 2 about?

In 2023, the television series Mayfair Witches, adapted from Anne Rice’s novels, debuted on AMC. The story centered around Rowan Fielding (played by Alexandra Daddario), a neurosurgeon who finds herself embroiled in mysterious occurrences. In her quest for explanations, she uncovers her lineage as a descendant of a coven of witches pursued by a malevolent entity named Lasher (portrayed by Jack Hutson). Additionally, Rowan encounters the Talamasca, a clandestine organization that conceals supernatural beings from the general public.

The initial season concluded with an intense cliffhanger, as it appeared that Lasher had been eliminated. Yet, Rowan discovered in dismay that she was fated to bear a reincarnation of Lasher, her tormentor, to perpetuate his pursuit of her kin. Driven by this revelation, Lasher hastened Rowan’s pregnancy, compelling her to deliver their son prematurely and flee from both the cult of Lasher’s followers and the Talamasca.

In the second installment of “Mayfair Witches”, our protagonist, Rowan, embarks on a journey to nurture this newly-emerged Lasher. Her objective is to prevent herself from turning into a monster. Yet, she encounters numerous adversaries who may seek to exploit the child or eliminate her and the child as potential threats. Here’s a brief summary:

Based on Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches, season 2 of Mayfair Witches continues the journey of Rowan Mayfair (Alexandra Daddario) after she has unwittingly given birth to the demon Lasher (Jack Huston). She is determined to understand what he has become – human or monster? – and to use him to fulfill her purpose as a healer. But when tragedy strikes, she must put aside her own desires and fight to protect her family.

In addition to Daddario, the series will see the return of Jack Huston portraying Lasher, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, and Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair. Newcomers to the cast include Ben Feldman, who plays Lark, a tech mogul with a past connection to Rowan; Alyssa Jirrels, who takes on the role of Rowan’s cousin, Moira; Ted Levine joins as Julien Mayfair, Cortland’s father and a cunning manipulator that casts a sinister shadow over the family; and Thora Birch is cast as Gifford Mayfair, a self-effacing tarot card reader who frequents her lake house and aspires to bohemian living.

American cable network AMC has unveiled the initial sneak peeks for season 2 of “Mayfair Witches”! It appears that Ciprien is engaged in a grave conversation (perhaps because the Talamasca erased his girlfriend’s memories of their existence, he’s now on a mission to uncover the truth about Rowan).

Additionally, we get our first glimpse of Moira, who seems immersed in action, and the oversized headphones add a peculiar element to what appears to be mourning attire, as she reacts to a puzzling message.

In our narrative, we encounter Lasher once more, but whether this is a flashback or a dream remains unclear; nonetheless, the intensity of the scene is undiminished. Meanwhile, it appears that Cortland reappears, seeming to appeal fervently to someone. Could it be his stern father who was known for his ruthless nature?
