A Quiet Place star Djimon Hounsou cast in horror-thriller The Monster

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of horror genre immersion under my belt, I must say that the casting of Djimon Hounsou in “The Monster” has me absolutely thrilled! With his captivating presence and chilling performances in films like “A Quiet Place Part II” and the Marvel universe’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” he undoubtedly brings an air of authenticity to any horror production.

As a devoted admirer of Djimon Hounsou’s chilling acting skills, particularly showcased in “A Quiet Place Part II” and “A Quiet Place: Day One”, I’m thrilled to announce that he will be gracing our screens once more, this time in an upcoming horror-thriller entitled “The Monster”. Let me share the details about his casting and the movie that have been released so far.

In the upcoming film, “The Monster,” Darren Lynn Bousman takes the reins as director. You may remember Bousman from his work directing four movies in the “Saw” series: “Saw II,” “Saw III,” “Saw IV,” and “Spiral.” He is now set to bring “The Monster” to life, working from a script he co-wrote with Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, who also collaborated on “Unsane.

Moreover, Lee Nelson and David Tish from Envision Media Arts, along with Saw producer Mark Burg, are involved in making the upcoming movie. Filming for this project is scheduled to begin in November, specifically in Danbury, Connecticut.

According to a statement made by movie producer Burg, shared with Deadline, here’s what he had to share about his work on the upcoming horror film.

Darren sent me a script with incredible twists and turns and the opportunity to work with him and the brilliant Djimon Hounsou. This movie will be amazing and scare the hell out of audiences worldwide.

Nelson and Tish similarly voiced their eagerness to collaborate with Hounsou and the team on the production of “The Monster” as they shared with Deadline.

We love finding new ways into horror and when we read The Monster we knew it was special. With Djimon and the minds behind one of horror’s biggest franchises, genre fans are in for something fresh and scary.

The plot centers around two millennials who make fast cash by illegally renting out lavish New York City apartments they don’t own to unsuspecting tenants. Their scheme runs smoothly until they encounter an apartment owner with a dark secret who turns the tables on them.

At present, it isn’t clear which character Idris Elba Hounsou will be playing in the film. However, our speculation is that he might take on the role of the apartment owner who has a hidden mystery about him. As soon as more details about his character become available, we’ll share them promptly. At this point, no other actors have been cast for this project.

Apart from his roles in “The Quiet Place” films, Hounsou is particularly recognized for portraying Korath the Pursuer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Captain Marvel”. He continued this role in the series “What If…?” as well.

Among his latest undertakings are the films “Gran Turismo”, “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” and “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver”. Apart from “The Monster”, he will next be appearing in the upcoming survival thriller “Last Breath”, slated for a February 28, 2025 theater release.
