As a dedicated follower of all things R.L. Stine and Goosebumps, I can’t help but feel my heart pounding with excitement as I witness David Schwimmer stepping into the shoes of Anthony for the new series, Goosebumps: The Vanishing. Having grown up on Ross Geller’s witty banter in Friends, it’s a delight to see him take on a more mysterious and complex role that seems tailor-made for his acting chops.

At New York Comic Con, David Schwimmer and Ana Ortiz amped up anticipation for their upcoming series, titled Goosebumps: The Vanishing.

On Sunday, the former Friends cast member who portrays Anthony participated alongside his fellow actor Ana in a discussion about everything concerning Goosebumps.

57-year-old David was stylishly dressed, flaunting his unique fashion sense with a smart black jacket, matching black jeans, and contemporary black and white sneakers.

Ana complemented him with a formal white vest paired with chic black leather trousers.

Her brown locks cascaded down her shoulders, and she adorned herself with layered necklaces.

Last night, the official trailer for Goosebumps: The Vanishing was revealed for the first time.

David plays the lead role of Anthony, a father with a mysterious past.

He’s depicted as having a strong guardianship, especially when it comes to his basement, which conceals clues connected to the broader enigma unfolding in the narrative.

His character’s complex background adds depth to the narrative as his teenage twins, Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin (Sam McCarthy) , visit him for the summer, uncovering dark truths along the way.

David’s actions show a blend of affectionate paternal care and the underlying stress of a person keeping hidden truths.

The adolescent twin siblings have been warned by their father with just one strict condition: “Don’t venture down to the basement.” This forbidden area seems linked to the enigma surrounding the disappearance of five teenagers back in 1994, which adds another layer of mystery.

At the Jacob Javits Center’s convention, David was accompanied by his fellow stars Ana, Jayden, Sam, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, Francesca Noel, and Stony Blyden, in addition to executive producers and showrunners Hilary Winston and Rob Letterman. Together, they explored the exciting mysteries that lay ahead.

Hillary and Rob, who played crucial roles in creating the new Goosebumps adaptation, offered exhilarating glimpses into the innovative methods employed during the development of this newest edition.

Participants got a unique sneak peek at unseen footage, which escalated anticipation for the premiere of the series on Disney+ and Hulu, scheduled for January 10, 2025.

The trailer opens with Anthony greeting his twin children, saying, ‘I want you to have a really fun – and also safe – summer out here.

Anthony explains, “There’s just one thing I ask – don’t go into the basement.” His curious children look at each other and his son inquires, “What’s down there?

In a different setting, one of Devin and Cece’s acquaintances discloses that their uncle was among the children who vanished back in 1994.

After a span of three decades, Anthony eventually obtains an item he had long desired – his brother’s clothes from the night he passed away.

While going down to the cellar, reminiscent of an improvised lab, he inspects a thread swatch from his brother’s garments and finds an unexpected discovery – there seems to be something living embedded in the cloth material.

A mysterious vine wraps around his arm and begins to grow out of it, leading him to pull it out and place it in a freezer.

Aggravated, Anthony approaches his nearby neighbor, Trey (Stony Blyden), to express his displeasure about Trey’s vehicle occupying Anthony’s driveway. In a fit of rage, he seizes a shovel and breaks one of the car windows.

As a die-hard admirer, I just can’t help but stir up trouble when it comes to Trey. Intrigued by Anthony’s off-limits basement, I couldn’t resist giving it a peek. Little did I know that my curiosity would lead me down a path of destruction, followed by an inexplicable pull into the basement freezer.

In the scene, Devin is saying something along the lines of, “Things aren’t ordinary,” as Cece observes bubbles forming in the bathroom sink, which seems to be oozing blood.

Cece thinks that ‘dad is behind all of the crazy things happening,’ though Devin isn’t so sure.

As I eagerly watch the captivating trailer unfold, it’s packed with suspenseful scenes that leave me breathless. It all culminates with the charismatic Anthony quipping about an overabundance of spine-tingling shows on television, making me giggle in agreement.
