Josh Brolin joins Glen Powell in ’80s action movie remake

Josh Brolin, with his knack for playing complex characters like Thanos, is perfect for the role of the movie’s antagonist. And let’s not forget Glen Powell, who’s already proven his action chops in Top Gun: Maverick.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped up about hopping on board with Glen Powell for the reboot of the iconic action flick, “The Running Man.” It’s Josh Brolin who’ll be joining me in this thrilling adventure!
The initial film featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger was adapted from a novel by Stephen King, who penned it under his pen name, Richard Bachman.
The reimagined version of “The Running Man” is going to stick with the original plotline from the 1987 film, but it will be transposed into the year 2025, depicting a troubled America plagued by rampant violence and economic hardship.
As reported by Deadline, it seems that Brolin is close to agreeing on a deal to play the antagonist in this upcoming film. At present, there’s no official word about the exact nature of Brolin’s character in the movie.
While Powell steps into the main character’s shoes as Ben Richards, he becomes embroiled in the brutal game show titled The Running Man. To secure a substantial reward and rescue his critically ill daughter, Ben must outsmart a relentless group of assassins who are hot on his heels.
On November 21, 2025, the movie is scheduled to be released, with Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brian from Mission: Impossible 8, Lee Pace, and Daniel Ezra of All American joining the cast. Moreover, Edgar Wright will take on roles as director, co-writer, and producer for this production.
Additionally, you’ll find Brolin appearing in the third part of the Knives Out series, known as “Wake Up Dead Man.
The filming for the eagerly awaited murder mystery was completed in August, as confirmed by its director, Rian Johnson.
