Servant

  • Release years: 2019-2023
  • Created by: Tony Basgallop
  • Starring: Lauren Ambrose, Nell Tiger Free, Toby Kebbell, Rupert Grint
  • Streaming on: Apple TV+

Among the TV series I’ve enjoyed most in the last ten years, one that stands out is “Servant”, a chilling psychological horror set in Philadelphia. This gripping tale revolves around a married couple with a newborn baby who bring in a nanny to help them at home. Initially appearing sweet and innocent, the nanny soon gives hints of being more complex than she seems. It doesn’t take long before it becomes apparent that there is something amiss with her. As layers of her mysterious past unravel, the couple’s hidden secrets start surfacing as well.

Servant is very creepy, very unpredictable, and an addicting binge-watch.

The Haunting series

  • Release years: 2018-2020
  • Created by: Mike Flanagan
  • Starring: Kate Siegel, Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas
  • Streaming on: Netflix

In terms of one of Netflix’s finest original productions, Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting anthology series, starting with The Haunting of Hill House, stands out as a remarkable achievement. Spanning over two seasons, the second installment, The Haunting of Bly Manor, emerged two years later. Both shows are based on renowned literary works, depicting haunted houses that exert an unsettling influence on their inhabitants. Boasting talented ensemble casts, both series delve into themes of unconventional families, love, grief, and the mysterious supernatural. The deep narratives promise to captivate viewers from start to finish.

As a devoted fan, I must say that both these chilling series have an undeniable eeriness about them. To this day, the spine-tingling shock from The Haunting of Hill House continues to be a hot topic among horror enthusiasts.

American Horror Story

  • Release years: 2011-present
  • Created by: Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk
  • Starring: Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Denis O’Hare
  • Streaming on: Hulu

No, not every season is a winner, but the fact that American Horror Story has been on for 13 years (and counting!) is pretty awesome. Another anthology, each season of AHS tackles a different theme full of frightening storylines. From ghosts and serial killers to clowns and witches, if there’s a horror theme out there, chances are this show has covered it. Unfortunately, that’s probably why the show has decreased in quality in recent seasons, but that doesn’t take away from how strong the original seasons are.

Among the most outstanding seasons of “American Horror Story” are “Murder House,” “Asylum,” and “Coven,” which happen to be the initial three in the series. The beauty of this show lies in the fact that each season presents a unique, self-contained storyline, allowing viewers to select episodes based on subjects that pique their curiosity. Over the past 13 years, these seasons have delivered numerous memorable moments and engaging narratives.

Derived from the acclaimed gothic horror series, “Interview With the Vampire,” this outstanding terror-filled show is one you’re missing out on. The narrative unfolds as we delve into his life as an immortal being, exploring his tumultuous relationship with the vampire responsible for his transformation and the events that ensue when he eventually breaks free.

Despite the fact that “Interview With the Vampire” has horrifying aspects, at its heart it’s a deeply moving and beautiful love story that will undoubtedly stir strong emotions within you. Castle Rock

  • Release years: 2018-2020
  • Created by: Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason
  • Starring: Melanie Lynskey, André Holland, Bill Skarsgård, Lizzy Caplan, Elsie Fisher, Barkhad Abdi
  • Streaming on: Hulu

Among the anthology series listed, “Castle Rock” on Hulu stands out as one of the most underappreciated. This original series ingeniously combines a myriad of tales penned by Stephen King, seamlessly blending diverse storylines and characters to craft something entirely fresh. The risky approach pays off, making it an engaging watch for me, being a devoted fan of King’s literature. What makes this two-season show even more captivating is the presence of esteemed actors like Sissy Spacek and Tim Robbins, who have starred in iconic films based on King’s works.

Clearly indicated by its title, “Castle Rock” is set in a fictitious town created by Stephen King, subtly peppering the series with delightful Easter eggs drawn from his various works across the episodes.

True Blood

In the world of gaming, I’m here to share some trivia about a captivating TV series I stumbled upon. This gem was primarily unfurled between 2008 and 2014, created by the talented Alan Ball. The series, known for its intriguing plotlines, features an exceptional cast including Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgård, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, and Sam Trammell. If you’re curious, you can catch this riveting show on Max.

Among my most cherished television series across all genres, including horror, is the enticing vampire drama “True Blood” from HBO. This captivating show is consistently enjoyable to revisit and is based on “The Southern Vampire Mysteries,” a series written by Charlaine Harris. The story revolves around a waitress with telepathic abilities whose world is dramatically altered when a vampire enters her restaurant. Following the invention of synthetic blood, vampires have become part of society, although they still face challenges in acceptance.
