Nigella Lawson treats herself to a Greggs pasty – after agreeing to be the face of the brand this Christmas

As a lifelong follower and admirer of Nigella Lawson, I must say that seeing her clutching a bag from Greggs was a delightful surprise! It’s always refreshing to see such an elegant and accomplished celebrity chef embracing the simple pleasures of everyday life.

She’s famously recognized as the “Domestic Goddess,” renowned for her luxurious and indulgent culinary creations, yet at times, even the most sophisticated celebrity chef craves a simple Greggs pastry.

Last week, it was noticed that Nigella Lawson exited an upscale West London residence, holding a bag full of treats from a well-known bakery chain, leaving passersby in a state of astonishment.

However, it turns out that the kitchen expert is not just a kitchen expert; he’s also the chosen spokesperson for the store during the holiday season. He was busy shooting a Christmas advertisement in the picturesque town of Ealing.

Although it seems unconventional, the 64-year-old celebrity is reportedly set to earn a substantial amount, estimated in six figures, for endorsing the company’s holiday menu with her distinctive allure and charm.

In a dark woolen coat dotted with snow, Nigella stood at the doorstep of a suburban home adorned with twinkling fairy lights for the advertisements.

On the table, arranged for display, were a variety of Greggs’ seasonal beverages such as orange hot chocolate and salted caramel lattes, along with their festive offerings like chicken, sage, and onion holiday pastries, and Christmas dinner-filled baguettes.

People eagerly wait for the holiday menu at this bakery chain every year. Their mince pies are already available, but they haven’t shared the date when their special seasonal pastries will go on sale yet.

This year, I have no doubt that her offerings will fly off the shelves swiftly, given Nigella’s unmatched ability to elevate sales through her exceptional reputation.

2006 saw an incredible surge in sales at Waitrose and Tesco when she suggested goose fat as crucial for an ideal roast potato. Similarly, after incorporating prunes into a recipe on Nigella’s Christmas Kitchen, Waitrose reported a significant increase of 30% in the sale of this dried fruit.

It might seem that Nigella and Greggs are quite different at first glance, but they share a common ground of unmatched culinary fame. This year alone, Greggs was crowned as the UK’s favorite fast-food chain in a poll, with its highly acclaimed sausage roll taking the lead.

Nigella also has a popular sausage roll recipe, which includes chestnuts, nutmeg and dried sage.

For instance, you won’t find me near an iron, and I’d choose a scrumptious chocolate cake over a traditional Christmas one any day. A bit of fun, I once intentionally pronounced ‘microwave’ as ‘meecrowahvay’, causing quite the stir!

Lately, it became controversial when she publicly shared her habit of enjoying foods that can be eaten with hands or a spoon in bed.

Whether that will extend to Greggs sausage rolls this Christmas is anyone’s guess.
