Fans can now experience what it was like on the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D
As a lifelong Star Trek enthusiast who has attended more conventions than I can count and spent countless hours debating the finer points of warp drive versus impulse power with fellow fans, I must say this latest news from Universal Studios Hollywood has me beaming with excitement! The opportunity to step aboard the USS Enterprise-D, the very bridge where Picard commanded and Data pondered the mysteries of life, is a dream come true for us Trekkers.
For enthusiasts of Star Trek, there’s no shortage of shows and movies to enjoy. The fandom is vast, with countless items to collect, millions of passionate fans, and numerous events such as conventions and cruises that bring together like-minded individuals every year. It’s inaccurate to suggest a waning interest in Star Trek; on the contrary, the brand continues to captivate its dedicated followers.
Beyond the high-priced cruises and occasionally congested conventions, there aren’t many vacation spots for Star Trek enthusiasts. While you can check out the two Trek statues, like the one of James Kirk in Riverside, IA or Kathryne Janeway in Bloomington ID, those are pretty much your only options.
While there are numerous fan gatherings dedicated to Star Trek, it’s fair to say that compared to the expansive Star Wars-themed park built by Disney, there aren’t many physical attractions or immersive environments specifically designed for Star Trek enthusiasts.
So far, discussions have centered around Universal Studios Hollywood’s upcoming “Fan Fest Nights” in the spring, which are specifically designed for Star Trek enthusiasts. However, we now have more details about what this event entails. As reported by TrekMovie.com, the new attraction is set to offer fans an immersive Star Trek experience.
2025 will see Trekkies flocking to California for an unforgettable experience not to be missed! For the first time ever, you’ll get a chance to reenact iconic scenes from Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as some less pleasant moments from Star Trek: Picard. This unique opportunity allows fans to step aboard the real bridge of the USS Enterprise-D!
Here’s how Universal Studios (again via TrekMovie) explains the temporary exhibit;
Inspired by the Star Trek universe that has entertained millions of fans, this exciting experience will boldly take guests on an immersive and thrilling adventure aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise-D where they will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to step onto the bridge, an original set piece featured in the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard.
The design and structure of the set appear to have originated from Picard, but are modeled after the bridge from Star Trek: The Next Generation. This means that even if you’re not a fan of the more recent series, lovers of the original material can still enjoy a dose of nostalgia while appreciating the set.
