Why Vo isn’t the new Fly Team leader in FBI: International explained
As a devoted fan who’s been following FBI: International since its inception, I can’t help but feel that Cameron Vo is the missing piece the show needs to reach its full potential. Her skills and chemistry with the characters are undeniably captivating, yet she’s yet to secure the lead role.
It’d be great if Cameron Vo could take the main role in FBI: International, as she possesses the required abilities, though so far that opportunity hasn’t presented itself.
Caution: We have some minor spoilers from the FBI: International season 4 premiere.
The episode introduced us to Wes Mitchell, who turned out to know Vo. In fact, Wes trained Vo in Seattle, so they have a long history that is a positive one. When Vo invited Wes to join the Fly Team, it wasn’t all that surprising.
The person who’s been leading the team since Forrester might not be the ideal choice. Instead, it seems he prioritizes photo opportunities over actual work. Like many others, Wes is curious as to why Vo wasn’t chosen as the new team leader instead.
Vo isn’t qualified for the position in FBI: International season 4 premiere
At the opening event, Vo made it clear that while she is keen on the position, she lacks the necessary qualifications. To be considered, she must hold a minimum GS-14 rank. Furthermore, she would have to advance to the role of Supervisory Special Agent for eligibility.
If those two roles aren’t filled, other individuals might have the opportunity to step in. Fortunately, Vo expresses interest in taking on this position. Given her aspirations to become a supervisor one day, it seems promising that, should the show carry on, we could eventually witness her achieving that role.
1) The program maintains a genuine feel throughout. Initially, I mentioned that Vo had recently been promoted to deputy, making her swift ascension to leadership seem challenging. However, I appreciate how the series addressed this transition in a clear manner.
In the upcoming season 4, episode 2 of FBI: International, it’s clear that Wes won’t blend seamlessly into the team. Smitty has reservations about Wes due to his aggressive approach during investigations. He tends to act impulsively in the field and doesn’t hesitate to pressure suspects. However, Vo believes that Wes might be the right fit for the team because of his unwavering commitment to the job and not just public appearances. This season promises an intriguing test as we see how these contrasting viewpoints play out within the team.
FBI: International airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
