Formula 1's Valtteri Bottas: 'I'll be racing something' in 2025

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours racing virtual Formula 1 cars, I must say that Valtteri Bottas‘ future in F1 is a topic that piques my interest more than a high-speed pit stop ever could. The Finnish racer has been a staple in the sport for quite some time, and his potential return to Sauber (or should I say, Audi from 2026) next year would certainly be a sight to behold.

There is only one seat still open in the 2025 Formula 1 driver lineup, and Valtteri Bottas is currently occupying it at Sauber, the team set to become Audi from 2026.

As a die-hard racing fan, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Bottas. He’s among the talented drivers yet to secure a contract for the upcoming season, and he’s tirelessly working behind the scenes to lock in his future plans.

As an ardent follower, I can’t help but feel excited about the speculation that the ten-time Grand Prix champion and twice-runner-up for the world title might join our team next season.

Instead of sticking with two veteran drivers, there’s speculation about whether they will opt for a younger driver instead, like prospective newcomer Gabriel Bortoleto or current Williams racer Franco Colapinto, who has stepped in following Logan Sargeant’s struggles.

Whether or not Bottas returns to Formula 1, he does plan to race next year.

Of course, Formula 1 remains his goal. He’s keeping his fingers crossed that the race seat he holds now will be his for a consecutive fourth term next season.

As a fan, let me share Valtteri Bottas’ words: “Indeed, I plan to race next year. That’s my primary aim, and Formula 1 remains my top priority. But rest assured, no matter what, you’ll find me behind the wheel of a racing car!

Regardless of whether the 35-year-old Finnish driver continues with Sauber for a fourth term, their driving duo will undergo changes in the upcoming season. The reason being, our current teammate, Zhou Guanyu, will not be renewing his contract following the confirmation that Nico Hulkenberg has joined the team.

Bottas has taken pleasure in collaborating with the 25-year-old Chinese member since he became part of the team as a newcomer in 2022.

He stated that for him, it feels satisfying as he assumes a position where he acts like a mentor or leader, being the more experienced one, and consequently bearing somewhat additional responsibilities.

As a gamer, it’s been quite a thrill watching him evolve and expand his skills. Guiding him has been an enjoyable part of this experience too, keeping me on my toes. On some weekends, he’s lightning fast! Our teamwork has made our gaming sessions even more enjoyable.

Get ready for the 19th race out of 24 in the 2024 Formula 1 season, the United States Grand Prix, happening this Sunday, October 20, at Circuit of the Americas. Tune into ABC from 2:55 p.m. ET to catch all the action! Sign up for a free trial of FuboTV and ensure you don’t miss it!
