Margot Robbie’s divisive flop is now available to watch on Netflix

As a movie enthusiast with a soft spot for historical dramas, I must say that my excitement levels were through the roof when I heard about Margot Robbie’s latest project, “Babylon,” now streaming on Netflix. Having grown up in the era of silent films and transitioning to sound cinema, I can appreciate the intricacies and challenges that filmmakers faced during this transformative period in Hollywood history.

Margot Robbie’s divisive movie Babylon has become available to watch on Netflix.

In 2022, a movie directed by Damien Chazelle debuted, centering around the shift of Hollywood towards talkies, or films with sound, during the early 1900s.

The streaming service has now released the movie for users in the UK and Ireland.

Initially, the movie titled Babylon failed to capture audiences’ interest when it was first screened in theaters. Its U.S. opening weekend earnings amounted to merely $4.85 million, and subsequently, its global box office receipts totaled a modest $64.9 million against a production budget of approximately $80 million.

The film garnered mixed reactions from critics, being both praised as an “exuberant homage to cinema” and criticized as one of the “poorly-received movies of 2022.” At the moment, it holds a rating of 57% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film boasts a stellar cast alongside Robbie, featuring the talents of Brad Pitt, Jean Smart from “Hacks,” Diego Calva known for “Narcos: Mexico,” Flea, a member of Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Tobey Maguire, who played Spider-Man.

Following that, Robbie achieved stardom by appearing in the blockbuster hit film of 2023, titled “Barbie“, which raked in massive profits during the summer season of the previous year.

Excitedly speaking, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just learned the amazing news – I’ll be sharing the screen with Jacob Elordi in Emerald Fennell’s fresh take on Wuthering Heights, titled Saltburn! Can’t wait for this one!

In this upcoming adaptation of Emily Brontë’s timeless novel, Robbie is set to bring Catherine Earnshaw to life, while Elordi will embody Heathcliff – portraying the complex dynamic between these characters who belong to two neighboring families in West Yorkshire moors. Their tumultuous relationship forms the heart of this story.

Next year, Robbie is set to feature in the fantasy-romance titled “A Grand Adventure Through Time and Emotion“, sharing screen time with Colin Farrell. This intriguing story revolves around two individuals who embark on an extraordinary emotional voyage together.
