As a die-hard fan of both Henry Cavill and action movies, this latest announcement has me beyond excited! I’ve been following Henry’s career since his days as the Man of Steel, and his transformation into Geralt of Rivia was nothing short of magnificent. Now, he’s taking his sword-wielding skills to a whole new level in Highlander, and I can hardly contain my anticipation!
It came as a shock to many when Henry Cavill, widely known for his chiseled good looks on the internet, decided to step down from his role in Netflix’s The Witcher, where he portrayed Geralt of Rivia. However, it seems he’s not completely departing from the action genre: instead of battling monsters across the Continent, he will now engage in fights against other immortals as part of a revamped adaptation of Highlander, the 1986 movie where immortal characters travel the globe seeking to eliminate each other, under the premise that “there can be only one.
What’s the reason behind the limitation to just one? Let some intrigue hang over from the film. Notably, Redanian Intellgence, typically focused on Witcher updates, is breaking its norm by reporting that filming for the movie featuring Henry Cavill wielding a sword will commence in Q1 of 2025. This contradicts Cavill’s earlier statement about shooting starting in July 2024; however, it’s not unusual for schedules to get adjusted.
Actor Cavill has been honing his skills for the lead character Connor MacLeod, and hinted that those who enjoyed his sword-fighting scenes in “The Witcher” should brace themselves for an even better performance.
