Reba McEntire’s popular sitcom is coming to Netflix in April, which is great news for her fans! However, only a selection of episodes will be available, not the whole series.
All episodes of Season 1 of Happy’s Place will be available on Netflix starting April 1st. While the show’s second season, which began airing in November and continues with new episodes, won’t be on Netflix, you can watch it on Peacock. Happy’s Place originally premiered on NBC in 2024, starring Reba McEntire as a woman who inherits a bar and discovers she has a younger half-sister.
Happy’s Place Season 1 Brings Some Exciting Reunions for Reba Fans
Along with Reba McEntire, the show Happy’s Place features JoJo (who plays the half-sister of Reba’s character and co-owner of the bar). Fans of McEntire’s show Reba will also be happy to see Melissa Peterman, who plays Gabby, one of the bartenders.
In addition to the main cast, Rex Linn plays Emmett, the bar’s cook, Pablo Castelblanco is the accountant, and Tokala Black Elk plays Takoda, a Native American waiter. Besides its drama, Happy’s Place has also featured several cast members reuniting from the show Reba throughout its first season.
Steve Howey, known for his role as Van Montgomery on the show Reba, will appear as a guest star on the series as Danny, a friend of Gabby’s. Christopher Rich, who played Brock Hart on Reba, will also make a guest appearance as Maverick, a tattoo artist recovering from a stroke.
Okay, so fans of Sweet Magnolias, get ready! It sounds like we might be seeing another familiar face from Reba pop up in Season 3. Showrunner Kevin Abbott has hinted that they’re actively trying to get Joanna Garcia Swisher involved, and it’s just a matter of schedules aligning. I’m personally excited – it would be fun to see some Reba reunion magic happen within the Sweet Magnolias universe!
Happy’s Place is Already Renewed Through Season 3
It’s still uncertain whether Happy’s Place will become as iconic as Reba, but the show has clearly been a success for the network. It was quickly renewed for a second season in February 2025, and a year later, NBC extended the series further.
The series maintained solid viewership throughout its first season. The premiere episode attracted 5.5 million viewers, and subsequent episodes consistently drew around 4.5 million. Critics also responded positively, giving the season a ‘Fresh’ rating of 73% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Viewers haven’t strongly embraced the series so far. Season 1 currently has a 51% approval rating based on over 50 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s unclear whether moving the show to Netflix will improve or worsen that score, as it will then be available to a much wider audience.
Happy’s Place (Season 1) heads to Netflix on Apr. 1.
