Gangs of London season 2 ending explained: who’s running London now?

As an avid fan of gritty, action-packed dramas, I must say that the latest season of Gangs of London has been nothing short of exhilarating. The plot twists and turns, coupled with the raw, visceral performances, have kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

Gangs of London season two spoilers follow.

The intense, action-packed second season of the series “Gangs of London” is now available on Netflix, casting a wider net over London’s crime landscape. You might be among those drawn in – welcome aboard! Please take care to avoid any bone shards, and if you happen to spill blood on your clothes, we suggest using cold water for cleaning.

As a devoted fan, I understand there might be some confusion regarding the events that unfolded at the end of this season. If you’re seeking clarity, let me help sort out the important details from the less crucial ones, and unravel the intricacies from the overall narrative.

In Eliot’s pursuit of revenge, a dismembered body part is thrown amidst his path of gunfire and gore, as he tracks down Sean for the murder of his father.

He asked the question, “How do you turn a king into a pawn?”

In other words, how do you bring the principal gang lord to his knees?

The answer, take away everything he values, starting with his position in the streets and that’s what Elliot (Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù) means to do.

Even though Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) has recently climbed back up, he’s about to experience a rather shocking wake-up call…

The final scene begins as Elliot casually throws Billy’s dismembered arm into a mailbox, intended for Sean and Marian (played by Michelle Fairley).

In his mind, he sees his father appearing before him, possibly to challenge the choices he’s made. It serves as an unconscious signal for him to halt his actions, fearing they might escalate beyond control. However, rest assured, this moral dilemma won’t keep him in check for long.

Subsequently, we find Billy (Brian Vernel), restrained and sprawled on the ground, his injured stump oozing blood into a plastic bag. A tourniquet is the only factor keeping him from losing excessive blood. The scene then shifts to his tattooed arm, visible to Sean and Marian, resting on the table.

Billy’s precarious predicament urges Sean to confront his mother about her part in things.

Marian admits that not only did she betray Sean by taking his drug shipment, but it was her deceitful actions that have potentially placed Billy in harm’s way. She claims she was trying to safeguard them both from the partnership Sean formed with Koba, but this explanation doesn’t sit well with him.

During a heated dispute, Sean tightly grasps Marian around her neck, momentarily cutting off her air supply. After releasing her, he declares that he has no further desire to be involved with her.

It appears that Elliot isn’t the sole seeker of retribution. In fact, Koba (Waleed Zuaiter) intends to take vengeance by killing Saba (Jahz Armando), as a consequence of helping Elliot in his failed assassination attempt against him and Sean.

He is moments away from completing the job himself when Sean shows up.

Through a recent phone call, he now knows Elliot’s location, having been given instructions. Koba delegates the task of killing Saba to Hakim (Aymen Hamdouchi), but in his absence, a struggle ensues and it’s Hakim who ends up getting killed.

What happened to the missing drugs?

In my excitement as a fan, I found myself in a pickle when the drug shipment mysteriously vanished. That’s when the brilliant Luan (Orli Shuka) came to my rescue. You see, he had cleverly installed a tracker in our van, allowing him to pinpoint its whereabouts.

Despite being owned by Shannon Dumani (Pippa Bennett-Warner), the vehicle is at her disposal. She argues that having it allows the Dumani family to exert power without involving Marian or the Wallaces, and she employs her son Danny and the recollection of Alex (Paapa Essiedu) to sway Ed, who remains uncertain.

In a drug-related confrontation, it was Luan’s group who initiated a gunfight with the Dumanis, but ultimately, the Dumanis emerged as the winners.

This grants them, as Shannon desired, influence, prestige, yet primarily, liberation – freedom from any oppressive rule, particularly that of the Wallaces.

Reminding Luan of how he aided him in rescuing his wife from Koba, Ed tries to ease tensions. It appears this recollection makes Luan retreat, allowing Marian to handle the situation alone.

Who kills Koba?

On their mini adventure, Koba and Sean head towards a location decided by Elliot. Along the way, before they reach their destination, Sean makes a brief pit stop at a café to grab a few burgers for them to eat.

Could it be that they’re sharing a moment together? Let’s have a bite or two from these burgers. A meal before an act of harm? Or perhaps Sean has some secret plans in motion.

After he gets back to the vehicle, they start eating. Yet, it doesn’t take much time before Koba starts having trouble breathing. Droplets of blood start appearing, initially from his nose and later from all noticeable openings.

Sean clarifies he’s given Koba a toxic substance that not only harms but also immobilizes him. Struggling, Koba reaches for his weapon, but his actions are sluggish.

He dies gargling on blood and is tossed into the boot of the car.

Sean reaches out to Elliot to inform him that the task has been successfully wrapped up, thereby obtaining the vital information about the actual site where he can locate Billy.

What happens between Sean and Elliot?

Per instructions, Sean reaches the specified spot, which appears to be an abandoned scrapyard. He extracts Koba’s motionless form from there, serving as evidence that the task has been completed.

Without weapons, he steps toward Elliot, who controls Billy as if he were on a lead. Elliot commands Sean to kneel down, and it appears he has accepted his destiny, expressing his love for Billy.

Just as Elliot was about to shoot, Billy instead took a screwdriver he had secretly acquired from Elliot’s glove compartment earlier and stabbed him with it, rather than letting Elliot fire the shot.

Naturally, Sean seizes the opportunity to take the advantage and a fight breaks out.

In a manner reminiscent of the gritty “Gangs of London,” numerous blows were exchanged between the parties. Unfortunately, this escalated to the point where Sean was hung up and left to die.

As I was struggling for air, I managed to whisper to Elliot, “My dad would be so proud of you.” Somehow, it seemed to touch a chord within him.

Every time I catch sight of that familiar vision – my father’s face, filled with earnest entreaty – it spurs me on to strive harder. And I follow his advice, aiming to do better each time. Indeed, his influence never wanes.

Instead of putting a tire beneath Sean’s feet for balancing, he sets up a tire as a makeshift balance beam, then summons the police, effectively allowing them to apprehend Sean for the alleged killing of Koba.

At the gathering, all significant groups have taken their places at a shared table. As the current discussion carries on, Elliot enters, the echoes of his recent talk with Sean still lingering in the air.

He informs Sean that merely killing isn’t sufficient; rather, he plans to seize everything Sean has worked hard for and make it his own. As Elliot arrives, a spot opens up at the table for him among the Dumanis.

The table is silenced by him sitting down, proving that he is the one in control of London now.

Marian takes the final seat at the table, showing a modest demeanor after her loss. She appears to accept the current state of affairs…for the time being. Her gaze towards Elliot hints that their old animosity persists.

Is Lale dead?

In an unexpected turn of events, the last scene reveals Mr. Afridi (Asif Raza) engaged in conversation with Lale (Narges Rashidi). By this point, it’s clear that both characters have suffered heavy losses.

In a turn of events, Asif Afridi no longer holds the leadership role among all London gangs, whereas Lale experienced betrayal from her lover Sean, leading to her being handed over to Mr. Afridi, ultimately resulting in her demise.

It appears that the two have chosen to set aside their disputes to team up instead. Their goal is to escape their current situation, hoping to regain everything they’ve lost along the way, making for a compelling third season.

Gangs of London is now streaming on Sky and NOW.
