Adriana Lima RETURNS to Victoria's Secret Fashion Show after six-year retirement

As I delve deeper into the captivating journey of Adriana Lima, it’s hard not to be in awe of her incredible career that spans over two decades. From gracing the runway for Victoria’s Secret to becoming the longest-running model and being named the most valuable Victoria’s Secret Angel, her life experience is nothing short of inspiring.

Adriana Lima is making her triumphant return to the Victoria’s Secret catwalk.

Six years have passed since she announced her retirement from the fashion label, having collaborated for 20 years and participating in 18 of the renowned Victoria’s Secret shows.

On Monday, the new collaboration between the model and the brand was unveiled in an exciting video, which they worked together on, and it was posted to the Victoria’s Secret Instagram account.

In the video, Lima is spotted, elegantly attired in a formal dark suit, calling for a taxi in the bustling New York City. As she steps into the vehicle, the driver queries, “Where are we going?

‘Home’ Lima says while exuding a relaxed and content look on her face, ‘I’m going home.’ she added.

In this case, when seated in a taxi, the driver faced the 43-year-old individual from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.

The taxi driver, showing a distinct New York City attitude, says to the well-known fashion model, “I’m not sure where on earth you reside.

Apologetically smiling, she seemed a bit awkward. “Could you take me to the Victoria’s Secret show?” she asked instead.

As we reach this stage, a lively tune with a strong emphasis on bass and drums begins to play, and right then, Lima turns directly towards the camera to announce confidently: ‘Here I am again.’

‘Hey, we’ve been keeping a secret, but we just can’t do it anymore!’ the video’s caption reads.

Lima’s partnership with the lingerie and clothing store started in 1999 when she signed her initial agreement. Later the same year, she made her debut on the Victoria’s Secret catwalk.

In 2000, after dedicating effort towards sculpting her physique and perfecting her stride, while also learning the ins and outs of the brand, the Brazilian model was promoted to Victoria’s Secret Angel. This title is bestowed upon models who are chosen to embody and speak for the brand as its public figurehead.

Over time, Lima worked closely with VS, but in November 2018, she unexpectedly declared her retirement from the company following almost two decades of service.

In just a short span of a year, the fashion industry was taken aback as the traditional Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, dating back to 1995, was abruptly halted following criticisms concerning insufficient representation of diverse body types.

However, the popular series returned to our screens in 2021 following a two-year hiatus, introducing the VS Collective – an initiative designed to steer the brand towards better reflecting the desires of women.

In 1977, Roy and Gaye Raymond established a company that initially consisted of five lingerie stores. This enterprise was subsequently purchased by Les Wexner in 1982. Under his leadership, the company expanded to numerous shopping malls across America, leading to an impressive growth spurt. By the early 1990s, the number of stores had swelled to 350 nationwide, and the company’s sales exceeded $1 billion, making it the most prominent lingerie retailer in the United States.

From 2000 until 2018, Lima was a Victoria’s Secret Angel, making her the model with the longest tenure. In 2017, she was also recognized as “the most valuable Victoria’s Secret Angel.

Additionally, besides being associated with Victoria’s Secret, Lima has also gained notoriety as the representative of Maybelline cosmetics since 2003.

Since 2014, Lima has been the world’s second highest-paid model in the world.
