Sarah Lancashire’s London-set Netflix spy show gets release date – and it’s soon
As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher of countless spy thrillers, I can confidently say that the upcoming Netflix series “Black Doves” has piqued my interest like no other. With a stellar cast led by Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, and Sarah Lancashire, this London-set espionage drama promises to deliver a gripping tale of secrets, deception, and high-stakes action.
The London-based Netflix spy series starring Sarah Lancashire, titled “Black Doves“, has officially announced its release date, which is coming up very soon.
The six-part show centers around Helen Webb, portrayed by Keira Knightley, a skilled undercover agent, as she delves into the enigma surrounding the unexpected demise of her clandestine partner.
She heads off on a mission with suave assassin Sam Young (Ben Whishaw) that leads to a “vast” and “interconnected” conspiracy, which forces them to question the cost of the choices they’ve made. Lancashire plays Helen’s spymaster Reed.
The thrilling series makes its debut on our streaming platform this coming Thursday, December 5th – a fantastic start to your holiday celebrations!
On October 14, Netflix shared a sneak peek video of their upcoming series through their old Twitter account, offering viewers a look into the distinctive personalities featured in the show.
“I’m looking to hire someone,” narrates Knightley, as a bloodied Helen and Sam appear on screen.
She adds, “It isn’t certain whether someone can actually succeed unless they give it a go. Once they do, they quickly discover the truth.” Just then, Lancashire’s character inquires with a hint of apprehension, “Are you absolutely certain this is what you wish to pursue?
In the realm of exciting new TV shows, I’m thrilled to be a part of “Black Doves,” created by the brilliant mind behind “Giri/Haji” – Joe Barton. Joining me in this captivating journey are familiar faces from some of my favorite series: Andrew Buchan from “Carnival Row,” Omari Douglas from “It’s a Sin,” Andrew Koji from “Warrior,” Kathryn Hunter from “Andor,” and Adeel Akhtar from “Fool Me Once.” I can’t wait for you all to see this incredible ensemble in action!
Last year during the Christmas season, Barton began crafting the scripts for the show while munching on turkey sandwiches and sipping on leftover bottles of cream liqueur, as he shared earlier.
As a gaming enthusiast, it’s beyond exhilarating to dive into the production process alongside a talented team whose craft I deeply respect. I can hardly contain my excitement, eagerly awaiting the magic that will transform this project from concept to reality.
In August, Netflix disclosed that they had previously secured a second season of the show before even its first season debuted.
Black Doves will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, December 5.
