Riley Keough returns to Graceland with grandmother Priscilla Presley to talk Lisa Marie’s memoir
As a fervent admirer of the Presley legacy and having grown up in the shadow of Graceland, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of respect and empathy for the twins Harper and Finley Lockwood. The recent developments regarding their inheritance and the ongoing book tour by Lisa Marie’s daughter, Riley Keough, have left an indelible impression on me.
Riley Keough hit Graceland over the weekend to promote her mother Lisa Marie Presley’s posthumous memoir From Here To The Great Unknown.
Keough did an interview with Nicole Richie at The Soundstage at the fame Graceland, once the home to Elvis Presley.
Apart from that, Riley was spotted with Priscilla Presley, who is not only Riley’s grandmother but also the former spouse of Elvis Presley and the mother of Lisa Marie, Elvis’s only daughter.
Priscilla was invited onto the stage to provide additional insights into the memoir, discussing her experiences with the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll.
In the book, Lisa Marie shares her deep affection for her father, detailing the challenges she faced following his passing, her romantic experiences, parenthood, the heartbreaking death of her son Benjamin in 2020, and the birth of her granddaughter, Tupelo, who is two years old.
Prior to the occasion, Keough and Presley were snapped across various parts of the Graceland estate, including an area where they were seen seated on a golf cart. This setting holds importance as Lisa Marie often encountered accidents with these vehicles.
With an air of elegance and style, Keough confidently strutted onto the stage, adorned in a stunning knee-length white gown. Complementing this outfit was a striking necklace that extended almost entirely across her collarbone.
Besides pulling back her long, dark hair with a hairband that reached beyond her shoulder length, she would sometimes do so as well.
During one occasion, Keogh had a chat with her grandmother, while on another instance, she spoke only with Richie, who took care of answering any queries that might arise for both women.
79-year-old Presley sported a youthful appearance in dark trousers, a combination of black leather and brown suede jacket, and black leather boots. Her long, straight, center-parted red hair added to the overall style.
As they strolled through Graceland, grandma and granddaughter appeared to be in a state of pure joy, but only a little more than a year prior, their relationship had become quite strained due to disagreements regarding Lisa Marie’s trust and will.
In September, Keough discussed the turmoil that arose after her mother’s demise and clarified that her bond with her grandmother was once again restoring to its previous state prior to the trust disagreement.
In January 2023, Priscilla submitted a request seeking to dispute an alteration made in Lisa Marie’s will in 2016. This modification intended to dismiss Priscilla and Barry Siegel from their roles as joint administrators of Lisa Marie’s Promenade Trust, replacing them with Riley and the late Benjamin, as stated by People.
The Runaways actress clarified that everyone was somewhat puzzled about the next steps due to the complexity of the situation. She pointed out that while they are like a family, there’s also a significant business aspect to their family dynamics, which required understanding. So, she emphasized the need for clarity.
In order to resolve the conflict, Keough was appointed as the single trustee overseeing Lisa Marie’s estate, as well as the trusts for her 14-year-old twins, Harper and Finley Lockwood.
According to the documents, Priscilla Presley has been appointed as a trustee for her son Navarone Garibaldi’s sub-trust. Navarone will receive one ninth of the trust, while the remaining portion will be divided among Riley, Finley, and Harper.
Per the terms of the contract, Keough was mandated to make a one-time payment of $1 million to his grandmother, in addition to a separate one-time payment of $400,000 to cover legal expenses from a prior settlement.
On Sunday, October 13, following the halt in Memphis, the book tour will lead Keough to St. Louis for a chat with Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins.
Subsequently, she plans to travel to Nashville, Tennessee on October 14, followed by a journey to London, England on October 15, where she’ll perform at the Bloomsbury Theatre. After some rest, she’s scheduled to participate in a conversation with Taylor Jenkins Reid at Ann and Jerry Moss Theater as part of Live Talks LA in Los Angeles.
Keough completed the unfinished book of her mother, utilizing numerous recordings made by Lisa Marie prior to her passing, and subsequently lent her voice, with Julia Roberts, for the audio book adaptation.
Following an extraordinarily successful and groundbreaking stint as a rock ‘n’ roll artist, Elvis Presley tragically passed away in August 1977 when he was only 42 years old. Regrettably, his daughter Lisa Marie met a similar fate, passing away in January 2023 at the age of 54.
