As an ardent fan who has followed Jackie Glazier’s journey since her Heroes v Villains season appearance, it is truly disheartening to see her going through such a challenging time post her injury on Australian Survivor. The show that once brought joy and excitement to millions has left one of its own in pain and struggling with everyday tasks.
2023 season participant Jackie Glazier of Australian Survivor has taken legal action following an incident involving injury during a competition event.
A contestant from Australian Survivor: Heroes vs Villains, identified as Glazier, has filed a lawsuit against the show’s production company, Endemol Shine Australia, following an injury she sustained to her collarbone during filming, according to the Sunday Herald Sun.
Apart from hurting her right shoulder, she sustained damage to some ligaments and developed a condition called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. This complication has resulted in persistent discomfort and limited mobility in her shoulder and arm area.
She’s filed a claim in the Supreme Court of Victoria, asking for reparations covering damage costs, lost wages from both the past and future, as well as medical bills.
Glazier was contracted by Endemol Shine Australia to take part in the show and was paid $25,000.
The event transpired as she was told to leap onto two spinning platforms, then dismount into a puddle of mud afterwards.
Instead of landing on their heads, several players opted for a technique where they flipped off the boxes and landed on their backs in the mud, thereby avoiding potential severe head injuries.
Nevertheless, Glazier and competitor George Mladenov both struggled with their landings and ended up getting hurt.
Glazier was forced to leave the competition due to her injury.
In simpler terms, the lawsuit submitted by Arnold Thomas & Becker on behalf of Glazier states that the pit, instead of being adequately deep (between 1 meter and 1.5 meters), only had 30 centimeters of water, which allegedly made it unsafe for a safe landing.
Since the show, Glazier has claimed she is been unable to do a range of household duties.
She claimed the injury has had a long-term impact on her health and professional life.
