As an ardent fan of Coronation Street and a devoted follower of the lives of its beloved stars, I must say I was absolutely thrilled to see Sam Aston take to the ice for his first Dancing On Ice training session! The English actor, 31, who has played the iconic role of Chesney Brown on our screens since he was just a child, is now embarking on a new adventure that will surely test his abilities and entertain us all.

This week, Sam Aston from Dancing on Ice slipped on his skates and stepped onto the ice for the initial time – and it seems that he’s already receiving rigorous training.

On a chilly Friday at the Manchester Ice Rink, the 31-year-old British thespian made a unique training session more special by bringing along his loved ones: his spouse, Briony Aston, and their trio of kids.

He had a relaxed appearance, wearing a black tracksuit ensemble – a zip-up hoodie and jogging pants – as he stepped onto the ice, accompanied by one of the coaches.

He completed his look with a padded coat and a navy blue and white baseball cap as they entered the building.

Nevertheless, it appeared that the actor from Coronation Street found it challenging to maneuver on his skates during his practice session.

For a moment, Sam seemed winded, leaning over with his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath briefly.

Despite the rocky start, Sam put his all into the training session and soon found himself gliding along without a helping hand.

This month, it was revealed that Sam, famously recognized for his portrayal of bumbling character Chesney Brown on Coronation Street, will be the newest participant in the show.

He said on This Morning: ‘I can’t say it was something that I always wanted to do. It came about, and it was just one of them.’

As an overjoyed admirer, I was thrilled when the press office shared some inside scoop. We had a captivating conversation, and simply stepping foot into that environment sent shivers of excitement coursing through me.

We recently had a conversation with them where they outlined the details of the show. They then placed us on the ice for either five or ten minutes to gauge our initial performance, which concluded the interaction.

The soap star – who has Sonny, four, Daisy, two and four-month-old Hazel with wife Briony – made appearances on Where the Heart Is and The Bill before landing his signature role as Chesney.

However, except for appearing in the All-Star Family Fortunes episode in 2005, he seldom made personal television appearances, as this wasn’t a path he had previously contemplated during his career that began in childhood.

As a youngster attending the show, it never crossed my mind to consider participating in I’m A Celebrity or similar ventures.

‘But I’ve got children myself now, and my son is pretty excited about it.’

Typically, an actor from ITV’s main daytime drama series often participates in the show Dancing on Ice, and Sam is set to continue this tradition, joining the ranks of performers like Lisa George (Beth Tinker), Faye Brookes (Kate Connor), Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe) and Ryan Thomas (Jason Grimshaw). These stars won the competition last year.

He added: ‘Anyone at work who I’ve spoken to has done it have all kind of the same thing that it is a great experience and it is really hard, and it’s tiring and tough but it is brilliant as well. I’m nervous, but I’m excited as well.’
