Terrifier 3's most disturbing scene isn't even its goriest

As a long-time horror enthusiast with a penchant for all things macabre, I can confidently say that Terrifier 3 has undeniably become my new favorite addition to the genre. The film has consistently elevated its gruesome storytelling with each installment, and this third outing is no exception.

This year saw an early Christmas gift in the form of “Terrifier 3,” the third installment of Damien Leone’s chilling slasher series that has garnered a devoted fanbase over time. With each new release, the films have only grown in quality, without compromising on the horror element – both physically and psychologically terrifying. The “Terrifier” movies focus on Art the Clown, a ruthless serial killer, and delve into his numerous murders, particularly those involving characters like Sienna Shaw and her brother Jonathan Shaw.

In “Terrifier 3,” Art comes back to life following his decapitation by Sienna in the second installment, and predictably, he’s thirsty for vengeance. This horror movie delivers plenty of blood, brutality, and unsettling visuals, as it doesn’t hesitate to show the intricate details of Art’s torment, murders, and disfigurement. However, unlike its predecessors, the third film features fewer lengthy violent sequences. Instead, its most chilling moment leans more towards psychological terror.

WARNING: Spoilers for Terrifier 3 are below.

Terrifier 3 reaches new levels of disturbing with Art x Victoria romance

In a surprise post-credit scene from “Terrifier 2,” we find that Victoria Heyes reappears. You might recall she was Art’s victim in the initial film, and not only did he kill her but also bit off her face. She takes on an antagonistic role in the third installment, as she gives birth to Art’s head and manages to resurrect him. It becomes clear that she harbors feelings for him. Sharing a home in an abandoned house, Victoria struggles with her new looks. Eventually, she ends her life due to this reality. As time passes, the pair seem to slip into a slumber, but their rest is interrupted when two construction workers arrive at the house.

The town intends to demolish the deserted house and assigns two employees to verify if anyone is residing there first. Upon gaining access, they are startled by a foul odor and decide to investigate further. One of the employees spots Victoria, apparently lifeless in the bathtub, but she unexpectedly revives and stabs him fatally in the neck. The other employee ascends to the attic where he encounters Art, who also regains consciousness and initiates an attack on him. However, the assault with Art is not as swift.

Terrifier 3's most disturbing scene isn't even its goriest

Victoria comes up to the attic and watches as Art not only kills the worker but cuts off his face and scalp. While this is happening, Victoria takes her knife and begins masturbating with it, resulting in her gushing blood on the floor. As Art finishes his kill, Victoria appears to climax, and Art playfully scolds her for being bad. Art’s response makes the scene humorous in the end, but boy, that’s a weird one! Getting off to someone killing and mutilating another person is not exactly easy to watch.

Although Victoria isn’t around during all of Art’s subsequent killings, she reappears later at Sienna’s aunt and uncle’s residence. Their romantic connection appears to be heavily skewed towards Victoria, given that Art exhibits sociopathic traits and seems unable to reciprocate love. Yet, it is likely that Art values her assistance, even if their relationship deviates significantly from the norm.

Terrifier 3 is now playing in theaters.
