As a seasoned television presenter with over 14 years of experience under my belt, I must say that I am both excited and apprehensive about the return of Dancing on Ice next year. Having started my career as a children’s presenter and catapulting into grown-up television thanks to this very show, it holds a special place in my heart.

This week marked the debut on the ice rink for Dancing On Ice contestant, Sir Steve Redgrave, who wore his skates for the very first time. However, it appears that his initial training sessions were rather challenging due to some slips along the way.

On Monday, the full list of participants for the ITV show in 2025 was unveiled, featuring several well-known personalities such as Ferne McCann, Mollie Pearce from “The Traitors,” and actress Chelsee Healy who have expressed interest in taking part.

Instead of posting videos of their initial skating attempts on social media, Olympic rower Steve was spotted having a dramatic fall on the ice rink.

The sixty-two-year-old athlete, who excelled in sports, found it challenging to navigate on ice skates. He seemed to spend nearly as much time on the ground as he did standing up.

A quick glance revealed Steve sprawled on the floor following a trip, until someone assisted him to stand again.

Yet, it didn’t take much time for him to trip up once more, finding himself flat on his back with his legs pointing skyward on this occasion.

In spite of an initially bumpy beginning, I couldn’t help but marvel at how the legendary British rower seemed to pour every ounce of his energy into that training session. Before long, he was effortlessly slicing through the water as if guided by some unseen force.

He opted for comfort, sporting a blue sweatshirt and black joggers to take to the rink.

As a lifestyle expert with years of personal experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel thrilled and inspired by Steve’s recent announcement that he will be taking part in his latest endeavor. Much like Steve, I too have spent most of my life competing and pushing myself to the limit, always seeking new challenges and opportunities for growth.

From 1984 to 2000, spanning five consecutive Olympic Games, he was a multiple gold medalist. Additionally, he bagged three gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and a total of nine gold medals at the World Rowing Championships.

On that daytime talk show, I shared a laugh about my predicament: “They haven’t managed to find roller skates that can accommodate my oversized feet – a size 12 with a generous width. Guess who’s having custom-made skates now?

Elsewhere, actress Charlie Brooks took to Instagram to share a snap of herself putting on her skates, along with the caption: ‘Getting my skates on. Clearly quite excited about this.’

Dan Edgar, a cast member from The Only Way Is Essex, posted a video showing him gearing up with skates, ready for his initial encounter with his partner.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but burst with joy when Mollie, famously known from The Traitors, unleashed her infectious enthusiasm in a jubilant video, revealing an icy wonderland – her very first peek at the rink!

She captioned her post: ‘So this is INSANE! All starting to feel real now.’

Alongside Anton Ferdinand and Chelsee, other participants offered sneak peeks into their initial training sessions. The cast members are gearing up for their debut performance which is scheduled for early January.

On a Monday, it was revealed that Dame Sarah Storey, a Paralympic champion, became the twelfth and concluding competitor joining the show.

Sarah, aged 46, holds the record as Britain’s most accomplished Paralympian ever, claiming her 19th gold medal in the C4-5 road race held in Paris just a month ago.

In the grand scheme of things, I found myself joining an esteemed group of personalities, following the unveiling of Chelsee Healy, Dan Edgar, Chris Taylor, and Michaela Strachan on Thursday. It’s a privilege to be part of this dynamic lineup.

In a lively statement, the actress, aged 36, who’s famed for playing Janeece Bryant on Waterloo Road, expressed her joy upon learning that she would be the eighth celebrity competitor.

In conversation with Heart Radio, Chelsee expressed her readiness and enthusiasm: “I’m all set, I’m all prepped! Let’s get this show on the road! I’ve got a little groove in me, but skating on ice is a whole new challenge – I can’t wait!

What I’m looking forward to the most is the live performances. The opportunity to perform live each week really gets me pumped, and I can hardly contain my excitement for these live shows.

The TOWIE personality, Dan, commented, “I’m excited about it, but the idea of the live performances and showcasing myself is quite tangible.

He continued: ‘I like to think I can ice skate a little bit but I’m a terrible dancer so that bit is going to need some work.’

Chris Taylor, a reality TV personality and host, was announced as the tenth celebrity signed up for participation.

He told Heart Radio: ‘I’m somewhere between absolutely terrified and very excited and I keep flitting between the two quite aggressively throughout the day. I’ve not even started stretching yet, I need to.’

Although I can skate, it seems I didn’t get his agile, graceful moves – the “snake hips” – genetically from my father, which is unfortunate.

Michaela, renowned for her appearances on television shows like The Really Wild Show and Springwatch, is also set to participate.

On the recent edition of Lorraine, she disclosed: “I was up for it on two occasions, and this year they’ve invited me to participate. I believe it would have been more suitable 14 years ago as I would have been younger then. Now, I’m even more anxious about it.

I anticipate a considerable test ahead; it’s been about 14 years since I last stepped onto the ice, given my dance training background. I do possess some sense of balance, but I’m uncertain if my skills will translate well enough for me to excel.

It emerged last week that Anton, who happens to be the sibling of renowned footballer Rio, is planning to trade football fields for ice skating rinks.

Additionally, they’ll be teaming up with Coronation Street actor Sam Aston, reality television personality Ferne McCann, and humorist Josh Jones.

It came to light in March that ITV executives have extended an attractive offer to Holly Willoughby for hosting Dancing on Ice again next year, hoping to retain her with the network.

For the first time in two decades, the presenter won’t be renewing her contract for a show on that channel, creating an opportunity for her competitors to potentially recruit her.

However, The Mail on Sunday announced that the show is set to return for another season, and discussions have begun with Holly regarding her co-hosting duties alongside Stephen Mulhern. This move serves as a warning to competing broadcasters to steer clear of their top talent.

According to a reliable insider, it’s confirmed that Dancing On Ice will return in the year 2025, and there are plans for Holly to be the show’s host.

The negotiations are ongoing, but the leaders hold a high regard for her and understand that other parties might be interested in securing her services. However, ITV cherishes her and aims to maintain her as an integral member of their team for many years to come.

As a lover of the show myself, I can attest to its transformative power. It took my career from a children’s presenter and propelled me into the world of adult television. Now, with great anticipation, ITV eagerly waits for me to accept their offer.

According to reports, the executive levels of ITV are considering various major programs for her to present, since she left “This Morning” last October after a plot to abduct and kill her, with the BBC apparently keen on recruiting her to host additional shows on their channels.

Simultaneously, renowned figure skaters Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean appear to be extremely excited about the potential revival of the show, as they plan to embark on a tour commemorating 50 years of skating together, which will follow immediately after the upcoming season concludes.

According to a friend of the Olympic champions, participating in “Dancing on Ice” seems like a perfect lead-up to their upcoming tour, which has them eagerly looking forward to coming back next year. Everything appears to be fitting together neatly and smoothly for them.
