Resident Evil Requiem’s Surprise Cameo Paved the Way for a Major Comeback

A highlight of the newer games is watching iconic characters team up with the latest heroes. For example, in Resident Evil 7 and Village, new character Ethan Winters worked closely with long-time series hero Chris Redfield. And the recently released Resident Evil Requiem features Grace Ashcroft alongside the popular Leon Kennedy.

While Requiem featured some unexpected appearances, like a cameo from HUNK, beloved characters such as Jill Valentine haven’t been seen in over ten years. Fortunately, with a Resident Evil Requiem DLC rumored to be in development, fans might not have to wait much longer for her return.

Albert Wesker Could Finally Make His Return

Zeno immediately seemed like a copy of Wesker – he had a similar appearance, enhanced powers, and even ran a bioweapons project. While he died quickly in the good ending, leaving many questions unanswered, Victor Gideon dismissed him as a poor imitation.

The evidence suggests Zeno is a clone of Wesker, potentially reviving Project W. Given Wesker’s recent appearance in the RE4 remake, his full return to the story now seems likely.

With Sherry Birkin reappearing in Requiem, there’s a chance we might see Jake Muller again – Wesker’s son, who last appeared with Sherry in Resident Evil 6. The Wesker family has played a huge role throughout the series, and this could be the ideal moment to wrap up their story for good.

Claire Redfield Needs to Star in a Future Resident Evil Game

A key part of the story in Resident Evil: Requiem involves Leon Kennedy revisiting the destroyed Raccoon City and facing the guilt he feels about not being able to save it. While it was satisfying to see Leon find some peace with the events of Resident Evil 2, Claire Redfield, his fellow hero in that game, didn’t get a similar chance to resolve her experiences.

Claire’s search for Chris and her connection with Sherry were key to making her such a compelling character in Resident Evil 2, and these elements significantly contribute to the game’s overall quality. It’s a shame the character hasn’t received much attention in recent years.

Claire hasn’t been idle, though. She played a major role in Resident Evil CODE: Veronica and Revelations 2, and has been a central character in numerous animated films and series set in the Resident Evil universe. She’s just as skilled at fighting bio-weapons as her brother Chris, and is now a key figure in the latest installments of the game.

It’s been over ten years since Revelations 2, and fans are ready to play as Claire Redfield in a new, original game. While revisiting Raccoon City like Leon did isn’t necessary, many players would love to see Claire reunite with Leon and Sherry within a future game’s story.

Jill Valentine Has Been Absent for 17 Years

If Wesker returns, it would make sense to also bring back Jill Valentine. They’ve been connected since the very beginning of the Resident Evil series, as they were both main characters. Their connection came full circle in Resident Evil 5, when Wesker manipulated Jill by controlling her mind.

Chris and Sheva managed to save Jill Valentine and defeat Wesker, but the effects of his experiments kept her from appearing in the main Resident Evil games for a while. Resident Evil: Revelations came out after Resident Evil 5, though the story actually happens before those events.

As seen in the animated movie Resident Evil: Death Island, which happens before the events of Biohazard, Jill is now well enough to fight biological weapons with the original characters. It’s great to see her back, and finally have a chance to get revenge on Wesker – even if it’s against a copy of him.

They’ve hinted at a showdown between my guy Chris Redfield’s team, the BSAA, and this new bioweapon group called the Connections. And honestly, who would I want backing Chris up against these guys? His old partner, of course!

Ada Wong and Leon Kennedy Need to Reunite

Ada Wong has been connected to Leon Kennedy ever since she appeared in Resident Evil 2. She’s consistently involved in dangerous bioterrorism, often when Leon is nearby. However, she hasn’t been a central character in the main Resident Evil storyline since Resident Evil 6.

Ada wasn’t in the newest game, but that doesn’t mean she’s gone for good. If Leon and Ada were to meet again, it would be a significant moment, though it’s always hard to know where her loyalties lie.

Is she being brought on board at Connections to help with their bioweapons research? With the creation of a universal antiviral, could she assist Leon in facing these emerging dangers? And considering their shared past, how would she react if another clone of Wesker appeared?

No matter what happens next, Ada Wong is a beloved character who deserves a chance to shine and pass the baton to a new generation in this long-running series. A big reason Resident Evil has stayed popular for three decades is its memorable characters, and many fans are eager to see some of them return.
