Nigella Lawson will be the new judge on The Great British Bake Off, following Dame Prue Leith’s recent decision to leave the show.

The 66-year-old TV chef will be back as a judge on the Channel 4 show, alongside Paul Hollywood, 59, when filming for the new series starts in April. She says she’s very excited to return.

I’ll be honest, taking over after Prue and the legendary Mary Berry was pretty intimidating! Those are huge shoes to fill, and I definitely felt the pressure knowing how much everyone loves them.

Prue Leith has expressed her excitement for Nigella Lawson joining ‘The Great British Bake Off’, saying she’s ‘thrilled’ for her to be a part of the show.

‘She’s sassy, fun and she knows her onions — and her croissants, cake and crumble.’

Nigella Lawson has appeared as a judge on both MasterChef Australia and My Kitchen Rules Australia, serving as a guest on the former and a main judge on the latter.

Nigella Lawson first gained widespread recognition with her 1998 cookbook, How To Eat, which quickly became a bestseller. She followed this success with How To Be A Domestic Goddess in 2000, earning her the Author of the Year award at the British Book Awards.

Nigella Lawson is a well-known television chef famous for her playful, suggestive comments and the way she vividly describes food.

Prue Leith, who joined ‘The Great British Baking Show’ in 2017 after Mary Berry left, has announced she’s leaving. She said it feels like the right moment to step down and allow a new judge to join the show.

Prue Leith announced on Instagram that she’s leaving The Great British Bake Off after nine seasons and judging over 400 baking challenges.

I’ve truly loved being part of The Great British Bake Off for the past nine years, and I’ll definitely miss working with Paul, Alison, Noel, and the amazing teams at Love Productions and Channel 4.

Now feels like the perfect time to retire – I am 86, after all! There are many things I want to do, and I’m especially looking forward to relaxing and enjoying my garden during the summer months.
