Fans can finally look forward to a new live-action Masters of the Universe movie in June 2026—the first since 1987! Directed by Travis Knight, known for Kubo and the Two Strings, the film tells the story of Prince Adam Glenn, also known as He-Man. It follows his journey after he’s forced to leave his war-ravaged planet, spending time on his mother’s home world before eventually returning to Eternia as a grown man.
He-Man’s destiny is to claim the Sword of Power and defend his home planet from the villainous Skeletor. While Nicholas Galitzine is known to be playing He-Man, the new fantasy movie also features a fantastic group of actors who will bring important characters to life. Nicholas Galitzine, known for his role in Red, White & Royal Blue, will play Prince Adam, also known as He-Man, in the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie. As the son of Queen Marlena and a descendant of King D’Vann Grayskull, Adam returns to his home planet, Eternia, after a twenty-year civil war to claim his rightful place and the powerful Sword of Power.
When the villain Skeletor and his forces attack to steal the Power Sword, He-Man fiercely defends his home and strives to live up to his father’s name. The character is played by Galitzine as an adult, and by Artie Wilkinson-Hunt (from C.B. Strike) as a child.
Camila Mendes as Teela

Camila Mendes, known for her role in Riverdale, plays Teela, a strong and skilled warrior who eventually becomes captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard. She’s also Prince Adam’s combat trainer and is fiercely loyal to her adoptive father, Man-At-Arms. Teela is independent, outgoing, and doesn’t hesitate to speak her mind, often teasing Adam about his clumsy fighting. Despite this, she greatly admires He-Man, not realizing he and Adam are one and the same.
Idris Elba as Duncan, Aka Man-At-Arms

Idris Elba, known from The Wire, stars as Duncan, also known as Man-At-Arms, in Masters of the Universe. Duncan is a skilled inventor, weapon specialist, and experienced warrior who serves as a father figure to Teela. He becomes Prince Adam’s right-hand person in the fight for Eternia. As He-Man’s most trusted advisor and ally, Man-At-Arms equips his forces with the tools they need to defeat Skeletor and his villains. Like a father to He-Man’s father, King Randor, Man-At-Arms is a close and reliable friend.
Jared Leto as Keldor, Aka Skeletor

Jared Leto, the Academy Award-winning actor from Dallas Buyers Club, plays Keldor, better known as Skeletor. Driven by a desire for revenge against his family, Skeletor seeks the Sword of Power and aims to wipe out the people of Eternia. He wants to take control of Grayskull Castle and use its power to conquer the universe, making him He-Man’s greatest enemy and a classic villain from the original Mattel comics.
Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress

Morena Baccarin, known for her role in Deadpool, plays The Sorceress in Masters of the Universe. This powerful, magical guardian of Castle Grayskull, also called Teela Na, is actually Teela’s birth mother. She possesses a wide range of abilities, including telepathy, moving objects with her mind, teleportation, seeing the future, and changing her form. The Sorceress can even create time portals and travel to other dimensions, and she uses her power to strengthen the Power Sword, giving He-Man continuous access to its abilities.
Alison Brie as Professor Evelyn Powers, Aka Evil-Lyn

Alison Brie, known for her role in Horse Girl, plays Professor Evelyn Powers, who is also the villain Evil-Lyn. Evil-Lyn is Skeletor’s right-hand woman – a powerful and manipulative sorceress who abandoned her home world, Eternia, to support Skeletor. She used to be Prince Adam’s teacher, and while incredibly smart, she isn’t as strong as Skeletor. Evil-Lyn secretly intends to take control from Skeletor and rule Eternia herself, using her magical crystal wand to cast dark spells.
James Purefoy as King Randor & Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena

In the movie Masters of the Universe, James Purefoy (known from The Following) and Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) play Prince Adam’s parents: King Randor and Queen Marlena Glenn.
