As someone who has spent years immersed in the world of entertainment journalism, I must say that this news about Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks gracing Saturday Night Live is truly a sight to behold. It’s like a dream come true for both fans and the show itself.

Fans of the Broadway hit “Wicked” felt disappointed when they saw Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo trying to replicate a famous 2003 poster from the original San Francisco stage production for Jon M. Chu’s upcoming film version, as it didn’t sit well with them.

Instead of a white hood, the 31-year-old pop star from Florida donned a crown, while the 37-year-old British-Nigerian artist kept her eyes visible and refrained from smiling with bold red lipstick.

I can hardly contain my excitement (and a tad of frustration), but I’m absolutely flabbergasted that it took them so long to reproduce this iconic poster! And oh boy, did they drop the ball on the execution! 😮

User @Sweeney_Daily asked, “What makes the smile on the poster so distinct? Why does she seem to have no emotion in the image?

User @strstyler posted on Twitter: “Couldn’t they have added some red lipstick, lowered a hat to cover her eyes, and made her smile slightly? She appears as if she’s a straight-faced internet meme.

A user on Picsart has customized a depiction of the Wicked playbill. The accompanying message reads: “I’ve made some adjustments, I hope it proves useful!

Ariana excitedly shared on Instagram her admiration for Cynthia Erivo: ‘I adore you @cynthiaerivo and can’t wait for everyone to witness your incredible talent in this upcoming project! Here we go!’

Cynthia, just one step away from achieving EGOT status, responded on Instagram: “@arianagrande This is a magical moment! Witnessing it with you is amazing! I can hardly wait for everyone to be amazed by your heartfelt affection for Glinda (and Elphaba too). The time has come. You’ve got my support. I admire you.

In the musical Wicked, stars Jung Hoyeon (known as Grande) and Cynthia Erivo portray college roommates Glinda Upland and Elphaba Thropp at Shiz University. Tickets for the initial phase became available for purchase on Wednesday, with the production set to premiere on November 27th.

Twice Grammy-winning artist famously encountered her then-married lover, Ethan Slater (portraying character Boq who transforms into the Tin Man), on the London set of Wicked. The sequel to this production isn’t scheduled for release until November 26, 2025.

In addition to the main cast, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, and Peter Dinklage are all set to appear in this eagerly awaited, two-part magical movie.

On Wednesdays, it’s possible for fans to reserve a copy of the Wicked: The Soundtrack, which includes every song from act one, before its scheduled release date on November 22nd.

On Wednesday, NBC unveiled a trailer for Ariana’s second stint as Saturday Night Live host, where she requested the team to avoid any references to The Wicked or The Wizard of Oz.

The scene switched to show Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, Marcello Hernández, and Andrew Dismukes dressed in budget-friendly versions of the Lion, Dorothy Gale, Scarecrow, and Tin Man costumes.

‘May we come back in one hour?’ Dismukes asked.

Grande replied: ‘Sure.’
