Christopher Nolan is lining up his next movie following the success of Oppenheimer.
In 2023, the historical biography film made a massive impact when it premiered, receiving rave reviews and breaking box office records. This year, it took home an impressive seven Academy Awards.
It appears that Deadline has shared news suggesting Nolan will likely collaborate again with Matt Damon, the star of Oppenheimer, alongside Universal Studios, for his upcoming movie. This project is anticipated to start filming next year and is slated for an IMAX premiere on July 17, 2026.

The narrative unfolds based on the actual events surrounding J Robert Oppenheimer, famously known as ‘the father of the atomic bomb’, and the Manhattan Project which culminated in the development of the world’s first nuclear weapons.
The film broke records by becoming the top-earning biographical movie of all time, outperforming previous record-holder “Bohemian Rhapsody,” as well as setting a new benchmark for the highest-grossing film focused on World War II at the box office.
Seven of its Academy Awards included recognition for Outstanding Film, Exceptional Directing by Christopher Nolan, and Outstanding Performance by Cillian Murphy in the Acting category.
After his name was called at the event, Nolan expressed: “To the Academy, let me just say that films have been around for over a century. Consider if we were still working in painting or theater after a hundred years. It’s hard to fathom where this amazing journey might take us next.
“But to know that you think that I’m a meaningful part of it means the world to me.”
Murphy added in his own speech that he was “a very proud Irish man standing here right now”.
The actor mentioned that our current reality, which is shaped by the inventor of the atomic bomb, was both good and bad, and he wished to honor the peacekeepers across the globe by dedicating the film to them, as it was based on their life’s work.
