As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast with more than three decades of comic book collecting under my belt, I can confidently say that this week has left me utterly spellbound! The galaxy far, far away is bustling with excitement as we delve into fresh miniseries and revisit old favorites.

Get ready, Star Wars comic enthusiasts! The upcoming week promises to be our most exciting of October! With a fresh miniseries launching, an ongoing series wrapping up, and a beloved Halloween special making its return, there’s something for every fan!

All this and more, so let’s get into another edition of This Week in Star Wars Comics!

Ewoks #1

40 years ago, “Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure” was released! To mark the occasion, a fresh miniseries titled “Ewoks #1” starts this month. This story unfolds post-“Return of the Jedi,” where the Ewok village grapples with the decision to venture into the larger galaxy as bounty hunters 4-LOM and Zuckuss make an appearance, seeking a hidden cache of Imperial weapons. Additionally, a new Ewok warrior named Meedro emerges, with connections to Wicket that are yet to be revealed.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that the comic series I’m currently hooked on, Ewoks #1, is penned by none other than Steve Orlando! The artistic genius behind it is Laura Braga and Álvaro López, who bring the Ewok world to life with their stunning visuals. And let’s not forget about Pete Woods, the talented cover artist who sets the tone for each issue with his captivating artwork. This team has truly crafted a Star Wars adventure that I can’t get enough of!

The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #1

A fresh miniseries titled “The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone” has begun! This exciting series unites popular characters from various media projects within The High Republic initiative. Characters Keeve Trennis and Elzar Mann join forces to put an end to the nefarious Nihil forever. Written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Paris Alleyne, and featuring cover art by Jake Bartok, this series is sure to captivate readers!

The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #2

In the sequel to The High Republic, Jedi Knight Reath Silas and his Padawan, Amadeo Azzazzo, are on a quest to gather knowledge about defeating the Nihil. They delve into the enigmatic Echo Stones, which intensify the Force by retelling tales from an ancient Jedi lore. But what if the power they unleash becomes too potent? The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #2, authored by George Mann, with Vincenzo Federici handling the illustrations, and Eduardo Mello contributing to the cover art.

The High Republic Adventures – Saber for Hire #4

In this week’s conclusion of The High Republic tales, the fourth issue of the miniseries Saber for Hire draws its curtain. Our protagonist, ex-Jedi Ty Yorrick who now hunts monsters, encounters her former master, who has allied with the opposition. This shocking revelation strikes Ty to the heart as her master is abducting force-sensitive children for experiments. Will she stop his sinister plans? The High Republic Adventures – Saber for Hire #4 is penned by Cavan Scott, with Rachael Stott providing the illustrations and cover art.

Ahsoka #4

Instead of repeating a familiar tune, let me say that Ahsoka #4 is what makes each month special in terms of comic book adaptations. It’s the fourth installment of Ahsoka, presented in comic form. If you’re fond of observing your favorite characters through varying artistic perspectives, these are worth checking out. However, they don’t necessarily bring anything fresh to the narrative. This particular issue is penned by Rodney Barnes, illustrated by Georges Jeanty, and Phil Noto lends his talent for the cover art.

Star Wars: Vader’s Castle – The Deluxe Library Collection

This week’s standout hardcover release, “Star Wars: Vader’s Castle – The Deluxe Library Collection,” is one I’m particularly fond of! It comprises the four mini-series from Dark Horse Comics that delve into the spooky side of Darth Vader. Suitable for everyone, these chilling stories draw inspiration from timeless classics like Dracula and Frankenstein, but with a Star Wars spin. The talented writer behind this is Cavan Scott, and the cover art is provided by the acclaimed horror and monster comic artist, Francesco Francavilla.
