Ewan McGregor: Disney is "exploring ideas" for Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2

As a long-time Star Wars enthusiast and avid gamer, the news about potential season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi has sent me into a galaxy far, far away of excitement! Ewan McGregor’s recent comments at L.A. Comic Con have given hope to fans like myself who were eagerly awaiting more adventures of our favorite Jedi Master.

Although “Obi-Wan Kenobi” aired on Disney+ in 2022, neither its cancellation nor renewal for another season has been officially announced. For nearly two years, the “Star Wars” series has been in an uncertain state, but lead actor Ewan McGregor has consistently expressed his eagerness to carry on the storyline. More recently, it’s been hinted that Disney is covertly brainstorming concepts for another episode.

During an on-stage interview at L.A. Comic Con, McGregor was questioned about the progress of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s second season. Fortunately, he wasn’t as tight-lipped as anticipated, revealing that Disney is actively considering concepts for a possible follow-up season.

Regarding his hopes for a second season, McGregor expresses a desire for additional flashback sequences featuring Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. The first season was rich in callbacks to this aspect, reprising both actors to revisit the roles they played in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. If needed, McGregor is prepared to undergo de-aging for these flashback scenes, stating that it would provide an opportunity for him and Christensen to work together again.

Additionally, McGregor expresses interest in wearing Obi-Wan’s distinctive armour seen in the animated series of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In simpler terms, he said, “There are a couple of things I’d like. I think it would be fun to wear that armor from the Clone Wars series.

The “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series takes place during the gap between the end of the prequel trilogy and the beginning of the original trilogy, according to Ewan McGregor. He feels that this period offers ample opportunity for exploring more of Obi-Wan’s exciting adventures, stating, “Clearly, there are several tales left untold between the end of the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series and when Alec Guinness portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original ‘Star Wars’ movie.

Ewan McGregor’s latest statements are sure to bring a wave of optimism among fans eagerly awaiting Season 2. Unlike earlier this year when he confessed that no one at Disney was even contemplating another season, his current tone appears more hopeful. “I would really enjoy doing the second season,” he stated, “but as of now, there’s been no discussion about it.” It seems that there are many projects on Disney’s plate at the moment.
