Terrifier 3 among 14 new scary movies and shows releasing this week, Oct. 7

As a horror enthusiast with over two decades of chilling experiences under my belt, I can confidently say that this week is shaping up to be a terrifying treat for fans like myself. With Terrifier 3 hitting theaters and Killer Cakes gracing our screens, it seems that every corner of our entertainment world is embracing the horror genre.

This week, Art the Clown makes his comeback following several months of excitement and expectations for the third installment in the widely-loved slasher series. In this new chapter, director Damien Leone and team have crafted a Christmas horror film that’s expected to be just as well-received this December as it is now. Titled Terrifier 3, the movie will also enjoy broader distribution, meaning if you want to catch it in theaters, there’s a good chance it will be showing near you from Thursday evening onwards.

If you’re not yet hooked on “Terrifier” or are looking for some chilling entertainment before the weekend, get ready for a double dose of terror with the premiere of the first two episodes of the spine-tingling new series, “Teacup” on Peacock. Meanwhile, if psychological thrillers are more your style, don’t miss out on “Caddo Lake” streaming exclusively on Max. And for those with a sweet tooth for something sinister, keep an eye out for the new movie, “Killer Cakes“, arriving on Hulu and Amazon this week. There’s a thrilling lineup of more chills and spills coming to your streaming devices!

Also, remember that the current season 3 of the show is being broadcasted on MGM+, releasing fresh episodes every Sunday. You can catch up with the first three episodes that have already been aired.

Terrifier 3 (Theaters, Oct. 11)

This coming Friday, Damien Leone’s bloody and grisly slasher movie series continues its terrifying journey onto the big screen. Known as the most gruesome of the three films so far, initial showings have caused a few spectators to leave in discomfort, with some even experiencing nausea. Even the film’s star, David Howard Thornton, who plays the chilling yet playful character Art the Clown, almost vomited during the filming of one particularly gruesome scene. So buckle up and prepare for a frightening Christmas as you witness Art the Clown unleash terror on Sienna (played by Lauren LaVera) and her town.

Caddo Lake (Max, Oct. 10)

M. Night Shyamalan has crafted a chilling psychological thriller titled “Caddo Lake“, featuring Dylan O’Brien and Eliza Scanlen in the lead roles. The plot revolves around an enigma as an eight-year-old girl vanishes mysteriously, linking to previous disappearances and deaths in the same region. Although not shot at Caddo Lake itself, the film is inspired by this real-life location – a vast flooded cypress forest straddling the Texas/Louisiana border, home to one of the world’s largest bayous.

Teacup (Peacock, Oct. 10)

The specifics regarding the television series Teacup are yet to be disclosed, but it’s based on Robert R. McCammon’s novel Stinger. The story revolves around a diverse band of survivors living on a rural Georgian farm, who must cooperate to survive an imminent danger. James Wan is involved as executive producer under his Atomic Monster label. Starting this Thursday, the first two episodes will be released, with two more premiering each week until the Halloween finale.

Killer Cakes (Prime Video, Oct. 8)

In a fresh baking competition, hosted by Matthew Lillard (known for his roles in “Scream” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s”), produced by Blumhouse Television, bakers collaborate with special effects artists to create edible creations that are both frightening and delicious. The contestants will strive to impress everyone with their gruesome masterpieces. Joining as judges for this competition are Danielle Harris, a horror film icon from “Halloween” and “Hatchet” franchises, and Nikk Alcaraz, an innovator in the field of experimental food artistry.

Mr. Crocket (Hulu, Oct. 11)

As a horror enthusiast, I’m thrilled about one of the three freshly minted horror flicks premiering on Hulu this “Huluween” – a chilling tale called Mr. Crocket. Set in the ’90s, this movie is a terrifying extension of director Brandon Espy’s earlier short film. In the eerie universe of Mr. Crocket, children nationwide are captivated by the cheerful children’s television show Mr. Crocket’s World. But here’s the catch, “Mr. Crocket” is not just a friendly face on TV; he’s a monstrous entity capable of leaping between channels to abduct his young viewers. The horrifying twist? He doesn’t just take them away for fun; he also brutally murders their parents in the process.
