WWE Raw Predictions: Gunther Will BURY Sami Zayn

As a lifelong WWE fan who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless superstars, I am beyond excited for this week’s episode of Raw! The aftermath of WWE Bad Blood 2024 PLE Event has left us all craving more action, and it seems WWE is delivering just that.

Following an extraordinary WWE Bad Blood 2024 PLE Event, CM Punk managed to put Drew McIntyre into a slumber within Hell in a Cell, Liv Morgan maintained her World Title against Rhea Ripley due to Raquel Rodriguez’s unexpected return, and Damian Priest triumphed over Finn Balor as retribution for costing him the World Title against Gunther at SummerSlam. Now, WWE is carrying on its journey towards the WWE Survivor Series 2024, where they are expected to host War Games Matches for both men’s and women’s divisions. This week’s episode of Raw will help clarify the teams for these matches.

This week sees three significant matches set: Gunther defending the World Title against Sami Zayn, Sheamus facing Peter Dunne in a Donnybrook Match, and Jey Uso defending the IC Title versus Xavier Woods. Meanwhile, on WWE Raw, Seth Rollins made a comeback last week to sabotage Bronson Reed during their Last Monster Standing Match against Braun Strowman as retribution for the multiple Tsunamis he endured earlier. The Pure Fusion Collective are still locked in conflict with Zelina Vega and her group, while Killer Kross has sparked discord within both The New Day and Awesome Truth.

Instead, let’s zero in on the next two title fights: the Donnybrook Match and Gunther potentially dominating Sami Zayn en route to WWE Survivor Series 2024.

Gunther (c) vs. Sami Zayn [World Title]

As a devoted fan, I firmly believe that Gunther will hold onto his World Title by overcoming Sami Zayn in the upcoming match. This victory would serve as redemption for Gunther, who lost to Zayn at WrestleMania 40 and has since claimed the title from Priest at SummerSlam. With such a recent win under his belt, Gunther needs to solidify his reign and prove that he truly deserves this prestigious title.

Sheamus vs. Pete Dunne [Donnybrook Match]

In their upcoming Donnybrook Match, Sheamus plans to defeat Pete Dunne as a means of avenging his loss from their previous encounter on Raw two weeks ago. This rivalry stems from their shared past in the Brawling Brutes. Though Dunne hasn’t explicitly explained why he turned against Sheamus, it appears that he felt slighted within the group, particularly after being named Butch. If this is indeed his motivation, Dunne is shrewd to establish himself by challenging a former World Champion like Sheamus. Nevertheless, Sheamus has his sights set on future title contests in the mid card, as he still aims to add the IC Title to his Grand Slam collection.

Main Event Jey Uso (c) vs. Xavier Woods [IC Title]

Discussing the Intercontinental Championship bout, Jey Uso is expected to hold onto the title against Xavier Woods. This is because he recently claimed the championship from Bron Breakker and needs some title defenses before passing it on. To establish himself as a strong singles champion, Jey first needs to demonstrate his worth with a mid-card belt, after which he can aim for world title contention. This Intercontinental Title run could serve as an excellent stepping stone for him, allowing us to gauge the longevity of his popularity and his potential to captivate audiences as a long-term champion. As Xavier Woods is currently in the process of transitioning into a villainous role, it’s not yet his time to secure the title.
