As I read through Molly’s heartfelt words, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of empathy and admiration for her strength. Losing a parent is undeniably one of life’s most challenging experiences, yet she manages to find solace in the memories shared with her beloved “Big Daddy.
Molly Sims shared some heartbreaking news on Instagram on Sunday night.
Her father, Jim Sims, a/k/a Big Daddy, passed away suddenly but peacefully.
The 51-year-old shared a lengthy post and 10 photos as a tribute to her dad and explained why she’s been absent from social media.
In simple terms, Molly expressed that Big Daddy unexpectedly passed away, yet it was on his own accord, much like how he chose to live his life. Her heart is shattered by this loss. ❤️ She pondered over the stark contrast between her summers now and those from her youth.
For the past week, I must admit I’ve been less clear and not as present in my daily updates. The reason being, I’ve been grappling with something that every child dreads – the passing of a parent. Particularly difficult is the fact that we’ve lost our last living relative.
Molly further explained that she’s now at a point where she’s unable to call her parents for advice.
She continued: ‘That in between place of no longer having a daddy to call when we just need our dads and realizing we are now truly going to rely on the people they raised and the values they instilled to guide us.’
The photo carousel displayed her latest snapshots featuring quality time spent with her dad aboard a yacht, moments with children Brooks (age 11), Scarlett (age 9) and Grey (age 7), along with nostalgic pictures showcasing her parents together with the kids over the years.
In various tunes, there are compositions that depict the profound bond between a father and his daughter. Regardless of its intricacy, he was the one who encouraged and backed me the most, transforming me into someone who pursues dreams diligently.
Speaking fondly, she recalled Big Daddy not just as a family man – husband and father – but also as a determined entrepreneur who started from scratch and persisted through every obstacle. He didn’t accept ‘no’ easily, never gave up, and cherished golfing outings.
She put a lot of effort into ensuring Todd and I had everything we desired, yet simultaneously motivated us to continually strive hard and trust in ourselves – which might seem trite, but I truly believe it’s the reason for our success and achievements – and there was no one more proud of us, as she gleefully expressed.
The love Molly has for her father was clear in the photos as was his love for her and his grandchildren.
‘He cherished us deeply, making our aspirations his own. He instilled confidence in us, encouraging us to dare beyond our comfort zones. To him, you were the heart of everything, and Todd and I will feel your absence more profoundly than words can express.’
I’ll pledge to uphold your legacy by living with zest, mirroring your spirit, and aspiring to become a person you could take pride in. To me, you weren’t merely my dad, but the embodiment of good fortune, and that bond remains everlasting.
She concluded her post by thanking the friends and family who have ‘reached out, shown up and said their prayers.’
As a devoted admirer, I find solace in the rhythm of life and the bonds of friendship. It’s these elements that help me navigate through the journey, just as Big Daddy would have wanted us all to do – keeping on living, one step at a time.
