NASCAR: 3 teams not returning in 2024 after Talladega race

As a die-hard NASCAR fan with decades of racing passion under my belt, it’s always a bittersweet moment when teams decide to step back from the track. Beard Motorsports, Live Fast Motorsports, and NY Racing Team have all left their mark this season, especially in the superspeedway races. Their absence will certainly be felt during the final five races of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.

For the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series, three teams that frequently participate in drafting races and even two of which compete solely in these events, will not be participating in the last five races of the season.

Beard Motorsports participated in not just one but two races held at Daytona International Speedway – even the prestigious Daytona 500 that kicked off the season. Remarkably, they secured a spot for this race based on their qualifying speed. Now, they’re also gearing up for another challenge at Talladega Superspeedway.

Following Anthony Alfredo’s 24th position finish driving the No. 62 Chevrolet in the last superspeedway race of the season at Talladega on a sunny afternoon, the team currently has no intentions to participate in any races during the 2024 season.

Two more teams have no 2024 return plans

live Fast Motorsports took part in the second Daytona race, having missed out on qualifying for the Daytona 500 earlier. Furthermore, they participated in both races at Talladega and Atlanta Motor Speedway, which underwent a repave prior to the 2022 season, transforming it into a smaller version of a superspeedway.

Based on B.J. McLeod’s 22nd place finish with the No. 78 Chevrolet on Sunday, there are no current intentions to participate in any races for the year 2024.

Among all teams, except for Live Fast Motorsports, it was me who missed out on qualifying for the prestigious Daytona 500, represented by none other than NY Racing Team.

In contrast to the other two teams I’ve been battling with this season, they’ve had a diverse track record in 2024, competing at multiple venues. However, it seems they’ve only raced on superspeedways three times out of their seven matches. Unfortunately, after J.J. Yeley’s 27th place finish in the No. 44 Chevrolet last Sunday, their Cup Series calendar for the remainder of the year is looking empty at the moment.

Apart from one other team working on a part-time basis, MBM Motorsports is the only one that has competed in more than one event this year. They’ve planned to run the No. 66 Ford in the remaining races at Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Phoenix Raceway to wrap up the season.

Don’t forget to catch the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race, the Bank of America Roval 400, airing live on NBC from Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval starting at 2:00 p.m. ET this Sunday, October 13. To ensure you don’t miss a moment of the excitement, sign up for a free trial of FuboTV today!
